Can a physfag chime in regarding water/resources not being infinite? The argument for resources being infinitely reusable is that Earth is a "closed system", but isn't that just a mathematical idealization? I'm almost certain it has something to do with some law of thermodynamics. It wouldn't make sense for the heat death of the universe to be a thing, and then assume that resources just endlessly get reused.

Most datacenters also use evaporative cooling, but those aren't near large bodies of water so they empty what ever reservoir local water comes from and for example ground water replenishes relatively slow and ironically if ground dries enough, its ability to absorb water gets shittier.
