This was the exact feedback I got from the recruiter who spoke to them after my first call. That I had gaps in my knowledge, but I seemed driven and like a self learner. We went 40 minutes over time in that first interview and the team lead said the only reason we were still talking is because he was impressed by my attitude and projects that I demoed. There's 3 open positions and only me and one other person out of 8 made it to the final stages. He outright said he didn't pass other interviewees to the final stage even though they had more cloud knowledge than me. They aren't even good at that, I lied my way into an MSP helldesk job with the intent of getting fired to collect unemployment. They also hired a person with malicious intent to destroy a customer's servers at the same time, and they were completely surprised. Also I got my NEETbux in less than 3 months, they ran enough of a shitshow that my unemployment was guaranteed.
Interviews are more like a justification for HR staff to exist, excessive interviews don't secure good employees.

Jobs in general are beyond fucked, the bottom of the economy fell out months ago and you're just seeing investors cheer for more. Tech jobs are scarce and the ones that are around have unreasonable skill requirements for abysmal pay. Tech is rapidly being outsourced to jeets, with AI being used as a scapegoat that also looks great for investors.
