Theoretically, WiFi 7 is significantly faster than USB 3.2.
While USB 3.2 relies on physical cables, the theoretical maximum throughput of WiFi 7 is more than double that of the fastest USB 3.2 configuration.

Hey lads, I just upgraded to an S25 from an old Note 9.

I used Nova Launcher with an icon pack called Voxel to make all my icons squares (like, sharp 90-degree corners on the icons) on my Note 9. Does anything like this exist on modern androids?

And is nova launcher still the go-to customizer or is good lock the new best one?

I am using iPhone Air for few days now
if they don't make the second one or iPhone Fold is not as thin I will crash out, this is the best phone I ever used, battery is better than that of Pixel 10 Pro, screen is excellent in both size and quality, mono speaker doesn't bother me at all and it's pretty good anyway, previously I covered bottom firing speakers when in bed and now the sound is unbothered instead of partiallt mutted (I am watching videos using it right now), I would add the second camera and it's perfect, because it's so thin it's easier to grip better

Dude, you can't even use third party launchers with gesture navigation on HyperOS.

>No, you cannot use third-party launchers (like Nova, Niagara, or Lawnchair) with native system gesture navigation on Xiaomi phones running HyperOS out of the box.

I can count the number of people on one hand that I've met who use antivirus on mobile phones.
In general, Play Protect is good enough but you'll still need to be careful with shady apps, especially if you're gonna side load "cracked" apks.
Firewalls are good for denying network access to specific apps, and using a modern web browser with ad block will protect you against a lot of annoyances.
TLDR just use common sense.
>>107452706
Not really. You'll find a few holdouts in the home screen threads (probably a good place to ask) but in general Android development has kind of shifted away from ricing for whatever reason.
>>107450060
I don't know what equipment you plan on using with your phone, but for IEMs you can actually buy USB-C to 2-Pin cables that will greatly expand your options with phones.

I've preordered :-) I really like the tech specs they are sensible from my point of view. A few years back I'd have been one of the persons complaining about the missing headphone jack, however since then the true wireless headphones became a mass product which are available for 20 bucks and I own several cheap pairs myself. If there's ever the need for 3,5mm connectivity the usb-c to 3,5mm adapters are readily available as well.
I don't really mind the MediaTek chip either, I've owner phones with MediaTek chips and they worked as expected. On the phones without MediaTek processors I've always missed the scheduled power off/on feature which they offer.
I'm really looking forward to this device.

Is there any privacy benefit to switching to LineageOS but still installing GApps? I'd like to completely deJewgle my phone, but unfortunately, I have one app that I need for work that I can't do without. Should I bother going through the trouble or should I just stick with stock Android?

You literally cannot shoot ProRes RAW footage onto the internal storage. You need a fast external SSD. Even if you have a 1TB iPhone, you max out on 4K 30FPS, while 60/120FPS and RAW require external storage.

It's incredibly niche but a limitation of the Air and Base 17 models.

Alan Dye is taking his team with him.
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-12-03/apple-design-executive-alan-dye-poached-by-meta-in-major-coup
>Joining Dye at Meta is Billy Sorrentino, a prominent deputy who has served as a senior director on Apple’s design team since 2016.

Dye's replacement, Stephen Lemay, is not from Dye's team.
https://daringfireball.net/2025/12/bad_dye_job
>Apple replacing Dye with Lemay seemingly signals a significant shift in direction, replacing a guy whose approach was almost entirely superficial/visual with a guy who’s spent his entire career sweating actual interaction details.
>If Apple’s senior leadership would have been happy to have Dye remain as leader of Apple’s software design teams, why didn’t they replace him with a Dye acolyte? Conversely, if the decision makers at Apple saw the need for a directional change, why wasn’t Dye pushed out?
>The answer, I think, is that the decision to elevate Lemay wasn’t about direction, but loyalty. Why risk putting in a Dye-aligned replacement when that person might immediately get poached too?

No. It consumes little power (think how powerful iPhone GPUs are, this is a minor draw) and only when the screen is already on, which needs more power anyway.

looks like qksms hasn't been updated for about 6 years so i installed its continuation, QUIK SMS
https://github.com/octoshrimpy/quik
unfortunately it seems without RCS support it just loses all the identity info about who sent what text in my group text history, making them pretty much unusable.
and apparently google has a monopoly on RCS in the us to the point where nobody else can even try to make an RCS app without working together with google, it's not just a question of nobody putting in the work
and to give me double aids, google's message app doesn't even let me LOOK at the group messages (or anything else) without first setting it as the default sms app every time I open it

Review of Xiaomi 15 ahhem
Fucking great size. Can be used one handed if you have tiny thumbs like me. Battery life is fucking nuts. Better than my iPhone 16 Pro max by far. The new battery tech that made them able to fit a 5200mah battery into this small ass phone is nuts. Hyperos doesnt have much miui feel left in it. Actually feels kinda good now. Camera is just crazy too and has 60x zoom. How the fuck this isnt the phone of the year it beyond me. It doesnt get as hot as the iPhone either when playing the same game. I am sold. Cant go back to applel now as their best phones cant even compete with this one that costs half the price. I aint missing shit. In fact I can now play gayms with winlator. Currently getting through miside and it runs perfect. This is next level shit
>>

I have the Air, it's a great phone. I do miss the telephoto camera sometimes, it has a max of 2X zoom accomplished by cropping the full sensor. Which is all right but no replacement for a proper telephoto lens. The lack of an ultrawide camera doesn't bother me one bit.

If thick and heavy are your concerns then absolutely consider the Air. It is thin and light which makes it very easy to handle. Not quite always one handed like a Mini, but very comfortable and mostly one handable. I frequently do a double take and think I have forgot my phone because it feels so tiny in my pocket.

Couple other caveats vs the Pro models:
>USB 2 port with no video output iirc
>no ProRes Raw with external storage

I'm charging my second gen SE maybe twice a day. I get weekly notifications that I use it two and a half hours a day, which is up from about an hour a day from four or five months ago. It is five years old too.

It doesnt where i live. Only in regular stores. Theres always these 3 small online stores that are always way cheaper than all the rest
>>

350€, on the official website.
>>
>>107472230
xiaomi's website doesn't sell poco phones, they redirect to aliexpress, where it's listed as $614/527 euros.
>>

t7000 if black, t8000 if transparent
it's quite cheap thankfully but it takes a good 3 days to fully set

Consider that it may be the battery swelling with age. Does the screen sit flat without resistance if you push it down or does it flex the glass? Things can happen but the screen adhesives failing is less likely than your battery bloating. B-7000 is probably what you want. That's what phone repair suppliers carry. There's other variants like T-7000 or E-6000. I couldnt tell you the difference but you want something that softens with heat so you can fix it in the future if needed; super glue isnt a good idea.

I don't know where you're from but they absolutely do, in Europe.
>>
>>107472262
I think the surface is flat. I keep my phone in rooms with high temperature. Could that cause the glue to get weaker?
>>
>>107472293
why do you lie? are you a jeet?

xiaomi = flagships
poco = high end but sometimes they're just rebranded redmis
redmi = mid-high end but they're more prevalent in Europe and eastern markets than pocos
mi = low-mid end/budget

>phone
>active use several hours a day
Are you crazy? I see no point in "actively using a phone" aside from texting and calling. 15-30 minutes/day is more than enough time to spend on a phone.
>>
>>107472338
then it doesn't matter which phone you have
>>
>>107472338
You don't use your pocket computer? Why are you on /g/?

>pshh a computer? I don't see a reason to use that more than 10 minutes a day for emails to my grandkids
>>
>>107472318
So, they do sell them.
>€519,99
I'm not saying it's the same price everywhere, coupons and offers vary per country, but I can get one for 350€ here. Why does it even matter? I'm just looking for a great all-rounder smartphone.

are custom ROMs for samsungs still a thing? can you flash them without tripping knox at all or is it a lost cause?
>>
>>107471547
Just make sure to debloat it.

of course, you, a retard, is a redditor.

Custom ROMs are generally no longer a thing outside of Pixels and Fairphones.

And also disable ads.

I don't remember any bloatware on my Xiaomi besides the usual Google apps, but I definitely will.

Their Poco model phones notoriously got lots of bloatwares and ads in their personal mi apps. Google around and you'll be able to resolve them. I know I had to debloat and disable the ads after buying my X7 Pro.

Any guides on unjewing your phone as much as possible? I have to get a new phone since my old one finally kicked the bucket and I want to start it off on the right foot.
>>
>>107472625
avoid american (nokie included), korean and jap brands, they give your data to jews for free.

chink brands sell your data to jews.
>>
>>107472625
buy a pixel and flash grapheneOS on it. assuming you're not using a cucked bank which blocks installs on custom ROMs.
>>
>>107472625
lmodroid + microg apex + aurora store
and you cut down surveillance by a lot
lmodroid is built for any currently supported lineage phone and installs the same
>>
>>107472625
you can't. you can install a privacy larper rom and pretend it does something but the truth is that phones have 100x the jew-mandated backdoors as even (((intelaviv))) cpus
>>
>>107472338
I've almost paid off my phone using apps. It sucks now because my state is banning gambling apps that use "sweepstakes coins" by the end of the year.
>>
>>107472897
tell me more. i'm a NEET and need this.
>>
>>107473016
Walking apps like Noom, Sweatcoin, and WeWard. They can take a while to make a few dollars, especially if you don't walk much.
Receipt apps like Ibotta.
I got $60 from Crown Coin Casino after a few months of checking in and spending the free coins. You need a bank account and proof of it though. It might not be available in some states.

no

the pro might be ticker and heavier, but the air is wider and taller. you will have to decide what is less shitty, just gonna say width is the most important dimension
