technically aero support has never went away, i was able to achieve this (old screenshot, don't use windows anymore) with an easy to install damn near extinct thing called a "transformation pack" (cause i was lazy, i CAN do it manually but i can't be arsed to) on windows 10 ltsc as an example, to get into technical specifics, since windows vista the windowing system ran on what we call dwm (not to be confused with suckless' dwm), that thing was responsible for rendering the aero you guys know and love and it is to this day an integral part of windows as a lot of the modern components depend on it, the only thing is that dwm got altered over time to cut down things like the glass effect but it's nothing a few third party tweaks and apps (like dwmblurglass or openglass combined with aero window manager) can't bring back
