What happened to the compact smartphone?
>>
>>107473080
I bet you could find one right now on Amazon dot com and the chinks will have one in your mailbox in less than a week
>>
>>107473102
Good luck getting any carrier in a post-3G first world country to not blacklist and refuse to activate it immediately
>>

Normie cattle decided their phone has to be their primary and only device. Bigger size also helps for consooming goyslop
>>
>>107473080
I remember this being a really good phone. I found my old S5 recently at the bottom of a storage box, it's a lot smaller than I remember. Seeing it in person I realized it was actually ass and I cannot believe we used to use phones this small. Then again I was like 13 years old so my hands were probably smaller.
>>
>107473137
Case in point
>>
>>107473080
I seriously think people have started becoming aware of the dangers of blue light radiation. A bigger phone mitigates this somewhat since you don't have to stare at it so closely. Like you'll still get irradiated with blue light radiation but bigger screen makes you feel better????

>>
>>107473168
"Blue light radiation" is the most crackpot thing I've ever heard kek
The reason looking at blue light messes up your circadian rhythm is because your brain evolved to associate the color and brightness with morning
>>
>>107473137
I think that's an S4.
>>
>>107473183
That’s right, be a good little goy and remember to keep CONSOOOMING!

>>
>>107473221
Humans evolved to have 0 blue light radiation exposure at dusk, dawn, and while in paralytic stasis. Now we're addicted to blue light radiation because it keeps us awake.

I mean it's not as bad as other things such as no longer having kids at around 15 years old (both male and females) but given how we no longer have 2 separate cycles of paralytic stasis to go through I don't think it's a stretch to blame it for modern mental illness desu.

Zoomie decided he wanted to play minecraft and pubg on his phone rather than use it for communication so the screen got bigger
>>
it's genuinely insane how each company has like 50 different variants of a mid-range shitter to choose from each year but there are like 2 phones on the entire market that are below 6" (and one of them is a replica of iphone 12 mini running android 8.0)
>>
>>107473463
Zoomers we’re still in high school when phones got big, it’s millennials.
>>
>>107473504
it's only logical if you consider that all companies buy from the same display makers.
want to make a custom order? min order size is like 5 million.

"Blue light radiation" makes you sound like a retarded monkey. It's like saying "radio wave radiation" like it's redundant bro. Just call it blue light
>>
>>107473080
>time passes
>technology only gets bulkier

weird
>>
>>107473589
The "radiation" part helps people think about dosage. You can't really escape from EMR but you can use the inverse square law to your advantage. Thus steering clear of 4 inch cellphones and opting for the 7 inch one instead is a start.
>>
>>107473590
it's not, people use their phones as PC replacements nowadays so they ask for bigger screens, especially true in pajeetistan
>>
>>107473668
Once again sounding like a retarded schizo. The reason blue light affects your melatonin production and fucks up your circadian rhythm purely has to do with the way your brain reacts to visual information. If you were blind it wouldn't even affect you. It has nothing to do with energy or the inverse square law.
>>
>>107473080
They still exist since there is demand. I personally do not care, nor do most people. Why do you not know this?
>>
>>107473694
What about the fact that people LITERALLY become addicted to blue light radiation to stay awake?
>>
>>107473668
>inverse square law
do you know what else roughly follows a square law? screen area per diagonal length
a 7" screen is about triple the area of a 4" one
even 4" further away a 7 inch tablet is still going to be about 50% more blue light at equal brighness according to my back of the hand maths
just dont stare at a fucking screen at bed time you moron
>>
>>107473760
They're addicted to looking at blue light on their phone with their eyes, which messes up their circadian rhythm because of the way our brain evolved to react to visual information typically associated with the daytime in a natural environment.
You sound like one of those NPCs who wouldn't understand counterfactual conditionals like "how would you feel if you didn't eat breakfast this morning" that's how dumb you are

What is the point of a tiny phone? I mean, regular iPhone and Galaxy ain't that bigger. You can't look only at display size. There are smaller bezels and different aspect ratio now.

Try to learn how to hold something properly besides your dick. Switch grip or lower your phone with your fingers. Besides, most interface elements are located at the bottom anyway.

my smartphone history is something like:
acer liquid mini (tiny) > first galaxy s > htc wildfire s (also tiny) > galaxy s3 (what a dogshit phone) > nexus 4 (my beloved) > galaxy s6 edge (again what a dogshit phone) > xperia xz2 compact > poco f1 (temporary phone because the digitizer on the xperia went apeshit) > nubia z50s pro > z fold 6

ever single time i got a small phone due to "muh easy 1-handed operation" and "ugh i hate muh heavy slab phones" i always ended up hating it in the end after six months to a year of daily use. screen real estate isn't negotiable for me anymore now that 1-hand mode is a feature on every phone

>>107480919

Remember when really big smartphones were called Phablets? As it was something between a phone and a tablet. Back then smartphones with 6 inch screens were so huge, they needed a separate name, as the smallest tablets were started at 7 inches.

i use my phone exclusively to read shit. It only needs to be big enough to display a few lines of text. You can just scroll down. I hate the modern trend of giant phones.

it's a huge difference, anon. there's far more surface area and reaching the extremities (top and bottom) is more difficult in these newer phones. the top is more difficult to reach because, well, the screen is overall taller. the bottom is more difficult to reach because it lacks a bottom bezel. so, much more strain is placed on your thumb and it makes the phone impractical unless it's used with both hands.

>>107483331
>small phone fans are too retarded to enable one handed mode
paying for a screen only to use half of it would be retarded. at that point might as well get a smaller phone.

Apple tried it with mini and Jobs was absolutely religiously convinced that a phone should fit comfortably and be used with one hand, but all retards wanted bigger screens and borderline tablets so here we are.

>>107473168
Nigger what I don't think that has anything to do with why people use larger phones. And a larger phone is probably even worse for blue light emission because the screen is larger...

I honestly believe the reason why people have larger phones now is just because they're all that's available on the market. This can't just be because of demand because I always see people wishing there were still smaller phones. Same with the headphone jack and non-removable battery. No one actually wanted these changes, they're just the only option anymore. But why companies forced larger screens on us, Idk. Maybe the powers that be wanted us to have larger, heavier bricks in our pockets so we can't run as easily.

for most people their only computer is their phone. they're using their phone for watching movies, tv shows, youtube, web browsing, filing taxes, gaming, working with work/school documents, etc.
that's why budget phones are always 6.7 inches. that's the only computing device poorfags can afford and a phone is a much bigger life requirement than a PC/laptop. which is why they want it to be as large as possible, that's the only computer screen they'll ever get to use.
