Also 5.25" bay thread I guess

>>107478127Yes I have a pc that's the size of a pack of cigarettes

>>107478303lol, nice.
They used to make dodgy power supplies that fit into the 5.25 bay, the idea was to power your graphics cards with it. It was when Nvidia's sli and ATI crossfire was just starting out. It was supposedly cheaper than replacing you main PSU to a higher wattage one. Back then many cases came with a cheap PSU.

>>107478187Most common small size mini-ITX a bit bigger, so the only choices are smaller motherboards, integrated and single boards.
>>107478127not only are there plenty of "SBC"s (rasppis and shit) that would easily fit there but this is how industrial control "servers" are arranged and these cards aren't always this big
>>107478127Why is it so hard to find replacement front panels that fit into 5.25 bays? I only found one on Aliexpress.
>>107481862they're usually custom made for a given case by the manufacturer. realistically though as a 3d printing hater that is 100% something i would just have 3d printed. not worth trying to find the OEM and paying 90$ shipping on a part that MSRPs at 20 cents
>>107481881Only one on Ali I can find is $27 with shipping included.
>>107481862>>107482037A potential solution is just putting the bay to use. Some extra USB ports, SD reader, HDD docking, etc
I got pic related, pretty happy with icydock, but the fans they put inside their shit are so bad.. had to replace it.don't know about a pc that is made to fit inside a 5.25, but you can probably 3d print an enclosure for a rpi or something similar
>>107478127Not in the 5.25" bay. But Phanteks has cases that can house both an atx and itx system.
>>107478303kek
>>107478431I had plans to do something like this once, I was gonna get a drive-bay HDD adapter, take the guts out, and stuff an RPi in it. I eventually wound up doing it because, like very nearly everyone else, I don't actually have any use for an RPi.
>>107478127i like the ash tray from the fractal design pop
>>107478127You have one in your pocket or on your table right now.
>>107478127>>107478187ones made specifically for 5.25 bays do exist but pretty much all of them are kinda ancient
>>107482085I have severe OCD and aspergers and I my HAF case to be a perfect rectangle, so I want power/reset in a 5.25" bay.
>>107478127probably every sbc
>>107478127There are 3D printable 5.25" bay holders made for Raspberry Pi's. Thought about doing something like this to make an internal Rasp Pi NAS server that my main mid tower could remote into but found Rasp Pi didn't work very well as a stable WAP so sort of gave up on that.
