I guess it's coming back because it's more convenient now with improvements in the technology, back in the day you had to go to store and sign up, the clerk had to look up the phone¡s imei register it in the network and all that, with the new esims everything is faster and simpler..

I use eSIM for my main phone number and a secondary physical SIM card for mobile data. I don't think one is better or more convenient than the other, it's just how things turned out.
