The HD800S are considered "legendary" european headphones but everyone knows they have a treble spike and weak bass.Also all the european subwoofers only ever extend down to around 30Hz at lowest. This includes the really expensive ones. Do europeans think there is hidden detail that must be captured in the 30-100Hz region? European subs are pathetically weak compared to SVS and even the chinese stuff like Tonewinner.Why are euros so scared of powerful bass?

Quite a few ELAC model go below 20 Hz. Sub market is not very developed as people have some sort of belief that it ruins the sound for music playback so they just get by with bookshelf or tower speakers and see subs only as something meant for home cinema setups.Also in general subse are way more expensive here, expect to pay like at least 40% more than in the US. I paid 650 Eur for PB-1000 a few years ago, while it was going on sale for 300$-something in the US.
