>Song submission rules/guidelines
Upload the file somewhere, preferably in a lossless format, and post the link here. If you want to update your track, make a new post.
Include the song title in the post, and make it clear that your song is a submission for the album.
Optionally you may include cover art for your track, but please confirm that the image in your post is the cover art or it won't be included. You may not use your real artist name.
Songs that contain anything against YouTube's policies won't be uploaded on YT, but will still be added to the album.
By default, tracks will be normalised to -14 LUFS (integrated loudness) in the release. You may specify a lower loudness for your track.
Use of AI is banned. This includes AI generated stems, samples, and effects. "AI" includes all neural network-based models and not hard-coded automation/procedural generation.

so i bought entry level FL Studio and noticed when you're logged in, they quote a higher price. So much for upgrading "for the difference". I asked them about this and they just ignore the support tickets.
SO, I've been reading and Ableton seems like a much more user friendly experience despite the higher price tag.
I'm pretty put off image line, and am posting here because i'm wondering if anyone has experience with either / both?
I'm looking to play with Synths and the like, composing some ambience tracks.

>"AI" includes all neural network-based models and not hard-coded automation/procedural generation.

You do realize you pretty much can't be using a computer without relying on AI today, right?

And what's with this rule in the first place? AI is here, and nothing we do can stop that. Why not accept that, instead of seething? This is supposed to be the tech board, for fuck's sake.

they're not even real artists like how shooting hoops doesn't make you a basketball player. an artist doesn't need to be employed or under contract but there's some expectations of quality by most people's definition of art. they'd seethe about how AI bros want results without putting in the work but they don't put in the work either about learning how to use professional studio equipment and such.

Pigments got updated this year, and it'll get updated in the future, like I said last thread, comes with a lot of good samples too

pigmen IS a general putpose workhorse, its made to be that, it does wavetable and granular and all that shit and it gives you a lot of kinds of modultion, if you already have another worlhorse like that then get diva, if you just need lots of analog sound get diva, if you want a workhorse that can basically do anything diva aint it

I like generative AI but there are clearly good reasons to keep human created art separate from it. The speed and ease in which AI art can be created means without gatekeeping any place that just allows all art regardless of means of creation becomes defacto AI only.

The difference is, you can't do digital art OR music production without using AI.

Unless you actually go back to traditional medium or physical instruments only, *you will be using AI*. Hell, the moment you even *record* any of those instruments you will likely be using AI unless you use some analog format.

This isn't a bad thing.

even 10 years ago it would have been valid to look at reddit for some things like mechanical keyboards. most regular anons are walking dinosaurs even though they still have a child-like naivety about how music production works. depending on the anon, they'll reveal their age with things like being obsessed with trackers instead of DAWs, VST2 plugin compatibility, having old and slow laptops, having 20 year old speakers, headphones that were introduced 35 years ago and which the anon owned for 10+ years, loving backstreet boys, soulja boy, skrillex, literal whos like burial and sd laika, etc
>>
and they use really old plugins like synth1, nexus and massive >>107507882
>>
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NQtXS3KDCEk

youngsters have adopted the lore of outboard gear such as the tube-tech CL1B which artists like kanye west and future have been known to use. but anons outright deny that "anal log warmth" is a thing, they call it placebo, snake oil etc. they won't even research plugins to try to recreate the sound, the most i've seen is an anon who posted a screenshot of cytomic "the glue" and another anon said everyone has an SSL bus-style compressor built in to their DAW and that's all that's needed. lol
>>

using compressors as a self respecting musician is like using a microwave as a self respecting chef, simply abhorrent.

any normal person can tell that these sound good >>107522497 >>107522507, they would have a sense of wonder like humans could invent these things that are as good as magic, but you don't get it at all, you supposedly have a flagship analog synth that you don't think sounds better than a plugin, you're not cool, you don't have the natural inclination to deal with these things

Anybody here actually bother to take their music hobby seriously and buy a couple synths or at least more than a 2 octave keyboard? You can only get so far by pirating every DAW and VST and not really getting to know your shit you know.

Im asking because im not quite sure. Should the kick stay how it is with lots of low end or should it also have some high end... or should I just compress the whole bus a little bit to give it some brightness and punch....
