undersea welding isn't a real job that you can just do or seek training for.
regardless, i know it's not facilitated by the lifestyle, and you can lose sight of this easily, but you CAN keep yourself "hardened" and not be doing physical labor. just go without comforts. basic shit like being warm maybe wear less layers when you know it's going to be uncomfortable, eat less, workout without music; instead of your normal youtube slop, listen to things that you arent as attracted to and more importantly have less control over such as the radio or maybe even the bullshit conversations of your coworkers.

unfortunately even if you do all this stuff and really do keep yourself that way, you will still come off as soft compared to manual laborers. theres no way around it.

Most community colleges offer courses on welding and other basic fab techniques. Then you just gotta apply for jobs welding sheet metal, pipes, and steel profiles until you eventually start working on big things. Several of the guys whom I went to college with actually did that upon graduation, since they felt too bored having an office job.
Undersea welding is really just welding, except undersea. Once you're really good at doing on dry land, you can start doing it below water too.
