Is there any windows laptop that has the same level of build quality you would get from MacBooks?
>>
>>107487030
As an overall package, not really. I bought a lenovo yoga (not the 2-in-1 line. It's a thin but powerful productivity laptop) and its build is pretty good... but it's still not as thin as a MBP and it gets hotter and has worse battery life. That said I was forced to use a MBP for work once and I fucking hated macos and everything related to apple so I wouldn't go for one myself
>>
>>107487030
sorta, every brand copies all the bad parts and none of the good parts of apples designs.
>>
>>107487076
Lenovo was one of the few I've read about having quality high end laptops although they are a lot more expensive and chunkier.

>>107487088
Any experience with them? I feel like the largest companies could offer the most comparable experience such as Microsoft, Samsung, Asus or Lenovo.
>>
>>107487030
>build quality
if you just mean that you want it to feel like a solid brick despite the dimensions then no, few laptops are like that besides thinkpads.
if you mean that you want to be able to drop it and it will survive, tons of laptops are like that
if you want it to be more repairable than a macbook, then just buy any business oriented brand
Framework is the only one that really comes to mind as a maximalist
>>
>>107487144
oh but don't get the framework 13, it's a flimsy piece of shit that overheats
the framework 16 is much stiffer and better designed w.r.t thermals. people do complain about the keyboard and display being flexy, but that has not been my experience. or maybe I just don't give a shit, who knows.
>>
>>107487144
>>107487159
Right I wouldn't go for framework since it's all modular. I guarantee it feels 'loose' from all the different sections mashed together rather than 1 or 2 solid pieces for the shell.

For build quality I meant the solid brick feel you get from Macs, rather than shitty plastic.

my ideal laptop would be windows with thunderbolt 4/5 built as sleek and solid as a MacBook as I'd like the option in the future to possibly buy an eGPU.

No, nothing this retarded would normally hit the market.

>loose
nah not really
there's like two spacers that are loose as shit, but that's it. maybe they'll release a gen 2 spacer that fits more snugly at some point.

>shitty plastic
there's nothing inherently wrong with plastic
that feeling comes from a retard-maxxing design philosophy which optimizes for novelty in the eyes of retarded 13 year olds every year, which is unsustainable. they don't have the bandwidth to iterate a sensible design so that it actually feels better year after year

trust me bro, a P-series ThinkPad is just as much of a brick as a 16 inch macbook, guess how I know
>>
>>107487376
when I say "retard-maxxing design philosophy" just look at the average gaming laptop
how is anyone supposed to take the time to design anything durable when you have to shit out this overdesigned crap every year?
>>
>>107487030
x86 macbooks run windows 10 better than they do catalina onwards lol. get a 2020 13 inch with four ports or 2019 16 inch, they've got the good keyboards

>same level of build quality you would get from MacBooks?
So bad display cables that break, thin bendable aluminium, overheating issues that melt your keyboard, and any drop of liquid will kill it?
That kind of build quality?
>>
>>107487747
I got issued a HP Zbook for work, needed two replacement motherboards within a few months, but working pretty decently now.
>>
>>107487771
build quality means nothing and you know it
>>
>>107487211
>For build quality I meant the solid brick feel you get from Macs, rather than shitty plastic.
You can go get a solid brick feel from dick in your ass you faggot. Who the fuck cares.
You drop that aluminum shit once and it's bent forever.
You drop plastic and it isn't. It flexes back to its original shape unless you're really trying to break it.
Thinkpads with mg alloy reinforcements is solid as fuck.
>>
>>107487030
You mean cooking itself to death inside a shitty aluminium shell? Sure, just tape over your fan intakes.
>>

Been using work-issued EliteBooks and Z-Books for 10 years now - they have all been very very good. I also have a2019 Intel chipped MacBook Pro - the screen and speakers are a bit better on the MacBook.
>>
>>107487030
not really, macbook is more like scaled up smartphone, soft aluminum, everything glued together.
higher end pc laptops are more expensive magnesium shells.
idk I think huawei makes something similar to macbook.
>>
>>107487030
The same quility? Mostly no. Surfaces are close. But there is a lot of good enough options.
>>
>>107488923

>>
>>107488994
I'm from europe they're readily available here but expensive, good specs start with 2k€.
>>
>>107489355
also forgot keyboard actually touching screen when closed and every spec of dirt sanding into screen. Most macbook users have cumrug in between to prevent that.
>>
>>107489545
I've never seen these issues on anyone's ARM Macs though, I think I'm going to cop one. All the M1-M5 Macs I've seen have had excellent battery life and thermals. iOS and iPadOS suck though
>>

the yoga 7 pro gen 10 is probably up there, i really like the build quality of that model. im not that fan of oled with the fucking burnin guaranteed the next 3-5 years.
not worth full price but very good value when its on sale.
my main gripe is that those models dont have ambient light sensor.

>>
Legion pro line is not only better built than a macbook but is more repairable than anything they have to offer.
They have been mogging the Macbook for over 8 years now
>>
It isn't even the build quality really. It's the commitment to software/hardware synthesis as part of the same Mac platform. Everything they code/write is far less taxing on your hardware than Windows. Low energy usage, performant, quit memory footprint, all that, it's just well optimized. Over time this means your computer guts get used a lot less and pushed to the brink rarely. PC on the other hand, Windows will have it gasping for air when opening notepad. It's obscene.
>>
>>107491878
Windows is fucked, we can agree on that
You can buy a year old legion with a 4000 series card and be perfectly happy on linux and still mog any macbook in regards to performance and have the same ecosystem to boot with tools like KDE connect.
>>
Had an Asus Zenbook for the last year I've really liked. Long battery life and good track pad.
>>
>>107487211
I had a hp in 2010 that had an all aluminium case. Bad idea since it also had dual GPUs and cooked itself to death constantly. Nothing wrong with plastic.
>>
>>107487030
It's not possible. No other company has total control over the hardware and software like Apple.

there is no equivalent to macs

macs have:
>soldered SSD/RAM/WLAN
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs
>when pajeetOS runs out of RAM it swapfile rapes the SSD to death within 3 years
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs
>when the SSD dies it bricks your entire currybook because the EFI is stored on the soldered SSD to save $0.05
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs
>components serial numbered and tied to the motherboard to prevent repair and replacement (including battery)
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs
>riveted keyboard that requires total destruction of the chassis to replace
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs
>flexgate cables that are so brittle they crack from opening your screen past 90 degrees more than 2 dozen times
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs
>screens so fucking shit they have over 90ms response times (essentially 10Hz)
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs
>screen made from pajeet trash glass that cracks from temperature change in seasons or tape over the iBotnet webcam
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs
>so fire and explosion prone the FAA have banned them from all flights
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs
>uses phone CPU that's so shit it gets destroyed by decade old i3s from 2017 and can only "compete" by cheating at benchmarks in extreme edge cases with hardware accelerators
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs
>curryniggers at apploo get so full of sniffing their own currynigger silicon shit they ship currybooks with no fans and they run so hot they melt the keyboard keys
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs

>keyboards with 63.5% failure rate
unheard of on PCs, and yet you curryniggers defend it with "jus werx fer me!"
just because you're in the 36.5% survivor group doesn't make your currynigger trash any good

Yes. A MacBook running Windows via Apple Bootcamp. A lot of Macs run intel CPU's and graphics so as soon as you install windows on them they just become a normal windows computer.

>build quality you would get from MacBooks?
lol. You mean copying MacBook, plenty. Not just design, build quality; but also design flaws.
1. Dell XPS series (first to copy MacBook some even has soldered SSD)
2. HP Envy (like XPS but less obnoxious)
3. Lenovo ThinkPad Z13/Z16 (at least Lenovo put a red nipple as one big difference)
4. Microsoft Surface (literally Microsoft version of Apple MacBook)
5. every Razer gaming laptop series. (MacBook form factor, but with anodized black, not-apple logo)
However, if you even considering to get one of these, you might as well get an actual MacBook instead for such similar price.
The actual reason for these macbook like design is for OEM to copy Apple's product, branding, marketing strategy: High-end segmented, premium-looking Windows notebooks targeting MacBook users / wannabe
