why would i be buying ram right now?
why do people start panic buying when prices are inflated?
buy high sell low life hack?

Yes. The main use of these as far as I can tell, is to use spare laptop RAM as an upgrade for a desktop. Someone who has both is more likely to have spare laptop RAM because those have fewer slots so you'll probably have to remove a smaller stick to install a bigger one. Now you can add it to your desktop for a free upgrade instead of tossing it in a drawer.

What would need more than 32GB for the average poweruser? GPUs and CPUs?
I think we are stressing out for not a good reason.

I think we are including the used market bud. Here same type of capabilities and type of DIMM and sodimm can have as much a 10x differential if u are comparing used sodimm to store dimms. used to used is pretty much the same. Not sure whether it will continue though, but if ur the type to dissassemble laptops and actually get use of all the parts, then laptop dissassembly is looking pretty good probably for those not in the know.

I bought...a lot of sodimm...I probably fucked up, but yolo. There are so many mixed signals on it's viability though. I think maybe SK hynix and then also old RAM is going to work better. Can't find many people doing extensive testing on this though. Might have to become a eceleb and put a video up.

My comfyui uses 32gb ram when doing video gens. If you want to run a large language model at home it's $2,000 in RAM or $100,000 in GPUs. (pre ram price hike)

Well you could sell ur DDR5 because this point we are crossing into worth-the-effort to sell territory. If it gets really bad DDR4 might increase on the used and at that point gam3rs like probably have some of that stored up.

Other than that though I am not sure. Like it kind of depends on what you're already sitting on. I am putting up a dedicated local LLM right now and I was kind of hoping to get it to work so I could do system RAM offloading, which if it works I'd be saving a lot of money on GPUs. For images you're probably taking a longer break inbetween a 2-5 x multiplier in time doesn't really mtter.

Anyone has anything to add here?

Bro WTF!Chatgpt almost called the police on me trying to translate that.

It genuinely used like 40 seconds dough.

So glad I got my 100GB DDR5 back when it was still cheap, lul. I don't need it most days but it's nice for data crunching without having to stream data and process data in chunks. I just allocate a shitton of memory and dump in data and keep the algorithm dead simple, baby! :3
Also, making anons seethe is sometimes funny.

ai videogen (at proper quality of Q8 wan 2.2) needs at least 96 ram and 24gb vram to not swap to disk, although having 64gb is fine
