I said pull stores near me and it showed under a Km from my house with gmaps link directions for stores, was in the PC browser with location off, didn't mention my location etc.

Retested now, browser ff, no chatgpt account, rejected nonessential cookies default ff configuration but location is blocked, it gave me gmaps directions links guessed my location under 1Km.

Gpt finds your city and then gmaps gets your location somehow it works with ff location set to block new requests but on a chromium browser doesn't work if you block the location requests.

It's your IP, they can get the location from the IP data.
My IP is dynamic, so it always shows some town somewhere else as my location which I guess is where my ISP has their server farm.
Just for reference checked it to show restaurants near me, and it showed me restaurants in a couple provinces from me, some 300 kilometers from my house.
