Transmission 4.0.6 (the latest version) is banned from major private trackers because of this shit https://github.com/transmission/transmission/issues/7078
It's been over a year and they STILL haven't released a new version with the fix.

These
There's a reason why people bother cracking them instead of using a free alternative. You have to be completely delusional to think GIMP is as good as PS

GRU's Unit 74455 exploited trannymission as a test run in 2016 and infected millions of machines and it took 48 hours to patch. They are obviously in there now.

Apple sucks at many things but open standards isn't necessarily one of them. They're the reason I can check my work schedule through my calendar rather than a dedicated app and the reason my printers work on Linux

I don't want tabs in my email client and calendar. The funny thing is, macos have a ton of mail and calendar apps that compete with built-in ones.

I wouldn't bet that Affinity will remain free with Canva.
Adobe also have Lightroom, After Effects, Animate and they want to buy Figma.

It can be browser‑based, but it shouldn’t feel like a browser. Why do I need a separate client that doesn’t simplify the interface, but actually makes it more complicated?
You could have vertical tabs for calendar, email, and contacts, but when you click on them, you still end up with another horizontal tab. It feels like Mozilla went out of their way to design a user‑unfriendly interface and made it as complex as possible.
>>
>>107500723
>Why do I need a separate client that doesn’t simplify the interface, but actually makes it more complicated?
You shouldn't, Opera 12 had it nailed and they folded and created another Chrom* clone instead of continuing to have the best browser and/or Internet suite. Now the best you get is SeaMonkey
>>
i still don't know how to use mpv

>>107500520
I doubt they will bait n switch back to paid, really the most likely scenario is Adobe making PS (proper) free upfront to compete with them. They still have AE but it too will be supplanted like their other products, LR is already losing ground to Capture One for example. Adobe's monopoly from decades ago has made them complacent, not to mention the unethical practices they employ has left their customers begging for a ship to jump to. It's over, they lost.
>>
>>107500770
what do you need it for that a program with a better gui cant do

>>107501017

>>
>>107500967
Canva bought Affinity for something. I doubt that they will ride on AI bullshit forever. I think eventually free tier will be more limited than today.
>LR is already losing ground to Capture One for example
It's not loosing, but Capture one is a good competetor. It's more expensive though and lack Android support. Anyway even if I still be using Lightroom in the future competition is good.
>>
>>107501092
Adobe is riding AI bullshit too, they all are. Canva bought Affinity as a selling point for their own AI frontend, ask not why they are giving away a free editor, ask why Adobe hasn't done the same after years of incremental updates.
>>
>>107499456
It's because it's the "industry standard" like MS Office, there's a lot of inertia and people tend to stick to what they know.
IMHO most people will be perfectly fine with OnlyOffice and in the case of Photoshop/Illustrator/Publisher with Affinity.
GIMP is a ways off, but version 3 supposedly added a lot of functionality. Inkscape is honestly good enough for basic vector editing already.
In my previous job they took graphic design seriously and paid for Adobe CC licenses, now I work for a smaller company and just use Affinity and it's brilliant.
