You know why I absolutely love buying GPUs but I despise buying motherboards that don't come with their own RAM preinstalled? This fucking bullshit: QVLBack on my Asus MOBA with DDR2 RAM I had bought and rebought 4 different types of RAM, some said the exact same fucking brand even the same model but because they weren't part of the same brand they'd give me artefacts. You basically had to be a NASA scientist to open up my old PC, you'd have to reconnect the RAM 3 fucking times and hope to the electricity gods that it worked, you need a solid 3 minutes just to get your PC open so no chance of doing any funny business like running Linux off of a USB stick. That's why I bought my new PC WHOLE together with its own PSU and the only piece I bought separately was the GPU. It was a fucking dream. Reinstalling the software and seeing my PC slow down to a crawl was not, I'm thinking of reinstalling again and do something about the forced Windows 11 shoved down my throat. SO... anyone want to help me pick 2x 32GB of RAM or even 2x 64GB of RAM for a MSI B500m A-Pro ? C'mon don't be a pussy FEEL MY PAIN. https://pangoly.com/en/compatibility/msi-b550-a-pro/ram#qvl=1I am looking at the local listings and these retards aren't even listing the code in the description or title, I have to squint my names at the screenshots and type it in the URL and copy-paste it. That is if they even bother posting the screenshots.
what is unc saying
>>107498422Don't go hunting for RAM separately if you know what's good for you. Always buy it together with the motherboard.
AAAAHHH WHY IS IT CRASHING
AM4 RAM is all trash
>>107498400that looks like the most useless board in the world. no bro i don't want any IO!!!!!1111
>>107498400First bitch, cry me a river. Second, AM4 supports ECC so fuck around with that, they are cheap and unaffected by the shortage. Third buy the shittiest, lowest speed RAM and I can absolutely guarantee you that it will work and your PC will boot every time you fucking faggot.
>>107498422QVL = Qualified Vendor List.In the context of motherboards and RAM, it means:A QVL is the list of memory modules that the motherboard manufacturer has explicitly tested and verified to work properly with that board. Why it existsBecause motherboard memory controllers, BIOS firmware, PCB trace layouts, and RAM timings/IC variations can interact in annoying ways. Manufacturers can’t guarantee compatibility with every RAM kit on the market, so they: • Take a selection of popular modules, • Test them, • Confirm they POST and run at rated speeds/XMP/EXPO, • Publish that list as the QVL.
>>107498400just dont be a smartass and mix ram kits and you should be fine 99.9% of the time. I dont think 64gb udimm ddr4 sticks exist so get any 2x32gb kit you can find for a fair price.
>>107503229this bullshit is why the whole idea of PC parts interchangeability is mostly bullshitespecially with RAM, it just doesn't fucking work and even a "stable" system can just randomly become unstable for no reason months or years later. Increasing the amount of ram in your system or populating all slots on the board can randomly cause shit to not work for no reason and then you have to heavily downclock the ram.Just fucking solder everything at this point, there's literally no reason to have slotted components.
>>107503300interchangeable ram is just a reddit meme afaikreal pros working in datacenters don't just mix and match different makes of ram like you're putting on clothing
