If a post replies to multiple other posts, does that post get duplicated?
>>
>>107499597
it just doesn't appear in the thread and becomes a new root comment

Cascading popups are better. The problem with threading is a single response can quote to multiple posts and a thread can even quote posts. 4chan discussion evolves concurrently so in long threads it will just become a jumbled mess with posts near the top referencing the context of posts near the bottom.
Cascading is like a fun mouse adventure where you can create your own contextual thread based on the parts you care about.

the solution for posts with multiple backlinks is that you trace every quote from newest to oldest to see if the post can be inserted into a thread such that it only references posts from that thread and and doesn't mess up the order of discussion, and if that's impossible then the post simply becomes a new root thread and is appended to the bottom (that is what op pic related is doing)
>>
I hate it. Normal 4chan has the best system for replies and their display.
>>
>>107499764
I really like the idea of this, but I feel that with longer threads and longer posts it would fill up the screen really quickly

I had a vibecoded userscript like this, but after a reinstall I noticed the 4chan built in one is mostly good enough
I also had a change of heart on userscripts, mostly useless bloat, I just removed violentmonkey and be done with it
Removed 4chanX too, fuck all that bloat

I rarely go beyond 5 quotes, it's usually for navigation and posts with a lot of backlinks

Based, I can respect it

The userscript I use is https://dollchan.net/extension/

I want to see what 4chan would look like with upvotes, they should do it for April fools
>>
>>107499579
fuck off and back to your discord predditor
you don't (and never will) belong here
>>
>>107504875
If they add upvotes for april fools, they should also do threading (like op picture) and sort posts to the top of threads based on how many updoots they have, and automatically collapse posts below a certain threshold
>>
>>107504875
they should do updoots but change them at random

No. Care to keep sharing how that makes you feel?
>>

Reddit already does that (vote fuzzing)
Even people who know reddit is garbage don't have any idea just how deep the rabbit hole goes.

clearly a graph is the best way to represent a 4chan thread

This is making me question whether indentation in source code is also a mistake.
