Will a Raspberry Pi 5 16GB be good enough to run a small Minecraft server with few friends and few mods or will it be a laggy piece of shit? Should I just go for a proper mini pc instead? I don't want to spend too much money on these retards
>>107499758>too much money>16gb pi5nigger get a 50 dollar thinkcenter on ebay
>>107499758Go for a proper x86 mini pc. 16gb of ram is enough, but the other specs are lacking.I've run a modded server before and you really end up needing higher cpu clock speeds and read/write speeds for loading chunks, teleporting around, etc.If you try with a raspberry pi, and especially if you're just using the microsd slot and not a usb to sata ssd, you'll end up with really bad stutters every time someone is on a boat/elytra.I ened up using an old intel nuc, but a used thinkcentre like the other anon said or even an old optiplex are good choices.
that's more than enough but I'd prefer a VPS since its easier to manage
>>107499794>>107499825Thanks, I'm just afraid these larger things cost too much in electricity if they run 24/7. Are these low power Intel N100 or similar good for my usecase?
>>107499758Just run the server on your computerOr get some used office computer like HP g3 800 or dell etc

>>107499853n100 are mobile intel chips, yeah? It should run your server fine then and work great, if power costs are the most pressing factor. You might be able to get used hardware for cheaper that's still pretty power efficient. Look for hardware that has intel U series mobile chips. The processors themselves have a 15 watt tdp.If you can afford the new hardware though, it should work just fine.
>>107499942Yes I'll look thanks
>>107499758A Pi 5 16GB is more than enough to play the game let alone host a server for it. They're low power as hell too. 16GB sounds like a lot tho
>>107500418>They're low power as hell too.nah the peak version goes towards 12W
