When was the last time you formatted your PC, why so and do you consider formatting soon?

>Last time
Since I clean installed Windows 11 when they first launched.

January when I upgraded my rig

Back in November of last year I think when I got my lovely RTX 3080

I do clean installs of macOS on my laptop, and, when I can, desktop
Did a clean install of Debian 13

Whenever I switch distros or do a major upgrade, or switch hardware, I will usually start with a fresh OS, and just transfer over any personal files I had from the previous installation. Once every 3-5 years or so.

There was a time I formatted daily. 98% was automated outside of a few logins. But I also butchered the OS. Felt amazing to play games on but after a day or two it would break itself and feel like shit.

These days I just use sneedgans and winget. Reinstall at the end of a major release (ie just installed 24H2) and block build upgrades.

Ideally I'd like to stick with LTSC 2021 but new gaymes already block it. Linux is nice but anti-cheat.

I haven't formatted in a long time. I did a fresh install of Windows 10 3 years ago or so and just upgraded it to LTSC when normal 10 shit the bed. Now I'm considering backing up and formatting because since switching to LTSC none of my video out devices (both HDMI and DP) show as audio out devices

Years now. The fucking WinSxS is like 10 fucking GBs

Fully wiped and formatted when Windows 10 was finished and I had to get 11. Felt nice to dump all the crap it had built up over the years.

You format a partition, not a PC. "Formatting a PC" makes no sense.
