Gemini 3 was supposed to be a huge leap, but in RP:
- it still writes tons of slop and cliches
- it has questionable system prompt following (in fact, Gemini 2.5 Pro felt better for this)
- it becomes retarded after ~20k context despite being a 1M context model.

I think most future optimization will not be in models anymore, but in how we use them. It's incredible for me that st and other apps rely still on single llm calls that should do everything at once, pile on their context to incredible lengths (your context doesn't have to be bigger than 16K), have neanderthal like integration of lorebooks etc.

I've been using Claude Sonnet and wanted to hear everyone's thoughts on which version you prefer.
Personally, I've only used Sonnet 3.7 and 4.5 so far. One thing I noticed is that 3.7 seems less filtered; it's more willing to engage with sensitive/NSFW topics without trying to dodge them. Sonnet 4.5, on the other hand, feels more cautious and tries to steer away from anything that might be workplace-inappropriate.

I prefer to create my own, or heavily edit my cards. I was a bit unsatisfied with the card creators / editors for ST character cards, so I made my own. Specifically, I wanted to be able to keep all my edits and go back through a timeline and revert to previous iterations. Some features

- all edits stored immutably in sidecar file (.draft)
- sidecar file is the main project file with all changes/details stored immutably
- pick up where you left off with full version / edit history
- all fields visible on the left (I always forget what to add)
- embedded lorebook support (I'm adding a lorebook import from json next)

Opus 3 dies in a month and is way better in a lot of ways than 4.1, which itself is better than 4.5

I can see why people like Claude so much a bit better now, Opus 3 really does feel an awful lot less tediously pattern filled than Opus 4.5 and Sonnet 4.5, and has a more creative feel than 4.1. It feels less intelligent but in a way that's partly irrelevant compared to the gain in sounding less like a hypey pattern box. Sonnet 4.5 is very hypey pattern box though to a markedly less irritating degree than GLM and Deepseek.
