it's such a stupid hill to die on. because of them, linux's input latency is absolute shit. the only time linux actually has good input is if you can force X11 to be uncomposited, wayland can't match this because it's FORCED VSYNC and there's no way of turning it off. even with KDE's tearing protocol it's inconsistent about what hardware/drivers allow it to tear, and you still need a full screen application for it to work. it's such an absolute clusterfuck I almost want to call it sabotage.>usecase?drawingmuh gaymesany latency sensitive workflows that don't actually care about tearing (there's a lot more than the two I just listed). this inflexibility is retarded, just let us tear our screens.
>linux cant even solve screen tearingWindows won, like 15 years ago
>>107501823Try XLibre as a Wayland and X11 replacement for Unix display x server
>>107502418>XLibrewe don't support racism, sexism, and transphobia here. go back to >>>/pol/
>>107501823macOS and Windows also have fully composited desktops with no screen tearing. The windows can still tell when they want to be able to tear and guess what, Wayland is getting that too via the tearing protocol (https://wayland.app/protocols/tearing-control-v1).Cry about it while you still can. Yes, right now there are still use cases for X11. Once all compositors support the relevant protocols that are developed to bridge the gap, there won't be any.
>>107502539>Once all compositors support the relevant protocols that are developed to bridge the gap, there won't be any.Only 33 more years to go!I use Xenocara by the way.>Windows did it tooYeah and support for everything people want to use Windows for got dropped with the release of Windows 10.>>107501823>Why are they doing this retarded shit?Because wayland isn't for general purpose desktop use and workstations. It's for *nix powered set-top devices like point of sale terminals and locked down devices that rely 100% on "the cloud" where all the applications are a web browser. The long term goal is for regular people to no longer have access to things like a powerful workstation at home. Instead, they want you to rent resources from their server farms where everything you do can be closely monitored and censored when needed. All while you pay through the nose for remote processing power that you access from a dumb terminal. In other words: they plan to go back to the old mainframe model of doing things
>>107501823>drawing>muh gaymesu understand that's nit the main role of loonix right? instead of autistically pointing at the problem u could be conspiring to put together a team of half thise roles half dev roke willing to put in the work, but look at yourselves, you'll probably be treating them like shit and putting them in the spotlightsee the problem now?
>>107502777Here is the part where idiots that can't even be bothered to type the word "you" claim everyone else is lazy and won't "put in the work". Despite the fact that we've seen over the last 15 years that anyone "putting in work" that doesn't align with the mainstream is excluded from contributing. If they do go off on their own and attempt to hard fork something they have their character attacked and their repos ddos'd off the internet or otherwise censored.
>>107502886that's pretty epic if tru, who'd be behind that?
>>107502539> macOS and Windows also have fully composited desktops with no screen tearingAnd its a bad thing. Compositing is evil, and its introduction ruined windows.
