It's a clean break from the abortion that is RDNA3, that chip was designed before features like DLSS2, path tracing, and ML-accelerated frame generation were publicly revealed.
They even abandoned the FSR4 branding to give it FSR Upscaling a clean break away from the DogShitDNA2 & 3 chips.
I told people not to spend too much on RDNA3 cards last year because their hardware limitations could restrict new feature compatibility.

This is my current system since mid-2019. What are the odds I have enough of a power budget to run a 3090 or 4090 in my system, even if it is undervolted? Or will I be forced into buying something like a 5070 or 5070 Ti instead? This PC wasn't built with anything more powerful than a Vega 64/FE in mind, though I have another identical 750W PSU to bear.

https://de.pcpartpicker.com/list/8rGrzP
>>
>>107504144
My RTX card doesn't even need to boost past the advertised clock speeds for most of the games I play.
>>
>>107504211
You need 850w to utilize the 5000 series for headroom.
>>
>>107504211
4090 should work. it even undervolts down to low 300s pretty easily at minimal performance cost. but its a really fast gpu that would even get bottlenecked on a 5700x3d so you won't get the most out of it with a 3700x
>>
I upgraded my GPU but now I need to upgrade my PSU too because the fan keeps spinning due to the GPU power draw and it annoys me
>>
>>107504243
What did you upgrade to and from?

Guys, what is an AIO suppose to sound like? i have no comparison since this is my first build. All i know If I run games my fans do get louder but idk if that should be of any concern.

Aio fans spins at 2900 rpm and other fans at 1200-1500.
>>
>>107504265
im using an nzxt kraken and use their software to keep the fans and pump at a constant rpm
>>
help me out bros
I had a 2x8GB kit of DDR4 and I bought another kit of 2x8GB, so I could run 32GB in quad channel. I have verified that all my dimm slots and the sticks themselves work fine, however, it just won't post with all four installed. I thought at first the issue was that my 1st gen ryzen has a weak IMC, but I recently just upgraded to the 5000 series and it still doesn't work.
The two kits are electrically the same, at least according to the spec sheet- it's just that one of them is after hyperx got rebranded to Kingston.
Here's the serial numbers: KF432C16BBK2/16 and HX432C16FB3K2/16
Should I just accept that the sticks won't work together for whatever reason, or could it be my motherboard? I feel like a B450 with a 5000 series Ryzen should be able to handle quad channel at 2400mhz. The only difference in the spec sheet that I can see is that on one version the heatsink is listed as 0.01mm taller. I cleared my cmos as well, no luck. The only thing I haven't done is update my BIOS but I'm not sure if that'd even help.
any help at all is appreciated bros
>>
>>107504239
Kinda figured, and using adapters to daisy chain two PSU's together so that you have one PSU separately dedicated to a GPU and the other for the rest of the system seems finicky to me.
>>
>>107504265
AIOs sound like jet engines. Just lower the max rpm or % allowed. I set mine at 70% max speed cause any higher it literally is so loud it drowns out the sound from my headphones.
>>
>>107504265
Keep the pump fast and fans low. if your fans go over 1000 rpm you have made a mistake
>>
>>107504242
>so you won't get the most out of it with a 3700x
I skipped out on a 5700X3D last year sadly so my only option will be a 5900XT or some other 5000 series chip at this rate. My main usecase however is Blender Cycles rendering w/ OptiX and running SDXL. So I imagined it would matter less in those situations.

How am I supposed to figure out what fan is what? My case has 3 fans intake and 3 fans for the AIO so I'm not exactly sure what system fan 1-6 are and how cpu fan/pump fan relate to the 3 fans on the AIO. I also have no idea what EZ-Connect Fan is. I have a ryzen 9950x3D and 6400 Mt/s RAM sticks. Is it worth trying to make the CPU run with 6400 Mt/s, or should I just underclock to 6000? by worth I mean is the performance difference actually relevant, because I'd rather have a stable system than 1 FPS more in some bottleneck scenarios. I ran a few stress tests with the stock 2:1 setting with 6400 and also 1:1 with 6400. both settings were unstable. underclocking to 6000 was stable. I guess to make 6400 work I'd have to fine tune all kinds of timings and clocks. so again, is it worth it? alternatively, does anyone have working presets for the same setup, so that I have at least a baseline where to begin?

2x48gb 24gbit m-die for bigger capacity of 96gb. it also clocks higher not that it matters since ryzen tops out at 6400mhz if you have a good IMC or 6200mhz if your IMC is mid.

If 1:1 mode is unstable at 1.45v vdd and 1.25v vsoc at 6400 then sorry to say your imc is a dud and cant handle 6400 1:1. No amount of tweaking will get it to accept 6400. 6200 1:1 with fclk at 2/3 mclk (2066 at 6200) would be the next best to go for but again its marginal over 6000 so up to you.

they are not planning to increase production. Making more would make their wafers cost less. DRAM/NAND cartel stopped pretending and is using the AI thing to justify a manufactured shortage. Every single NAND manufacturer was cutting production lines for the past 2 years, even if they "increase production" they are just flipping the shit they turned off back on. Which they are not planning to do.

>>
>>107504713
>should i wait for ddr5 ram prices down or just skip to ddr6?
You could be waiting 4~5 years for either of these to be available at fairly affordable costs.
DDR5 memory will never get as cheap as the 2023 to early October 2025 price levels.

You skip the first batches of new DDR generation kits.
These will usually have the slowest speeds and the worst timings, or you'll be paying a high premium for the best ICs.
2x16 CL30 6000MT/s kits used to cost over $400 in early 2022, 32GB 6400MT/s CL32 kits cost over $500.
Those were DDR5 prices before AI server demand took off, although there were PMIC sourcing issues.

Yes, audio chipsets are a solved technology. Just not being inside your case with all the EM noise will make it better than your mobo's hardware, especially when it comes to the mic. Even USB 2.0 has orders of magnitude more throughput than you need for placebo-tier audio quality. Only low impedance gear needs beefier audio interfaces.

Depends, I wouldn't worry about it. All modern OSes remember volume on a per-device basis so it doesn't matter if it "scales" differently between your speakers and headset.

It's obvious that if 2100mhz at 0.975V is +241, then at +0.006V it's obviously not just +73. It calculates it from that clearly incorrect shadow curve that gets fucked up when you use the editor.

I undervolted my 5090 and it performs exactly the same in Steel Nomad tests but with a 15% decrease in wattage.
It's probably not that useful in low-mid range cards, but the top of the line ones more often than not are overworking themselves with little gain to be seen. You can put a cap on them to use less energy and run less hot to get the same result and increase their lifespan.
>>
Well how about that, immediately -10C and almost -50W less on this 3060 Ti just by limiting the voltage curve at 900MV, testing with an SDXL prompt doesn't even show much more than a 3s loss in time when using ERSGAN upscaling on a 1024x1024 image. Guess that guide worked.

Can't keep my memory overclock and power limit settings saved though for some reason when I switch profiles.
>>
okay i used msi's memory try it and went from 6000cl30 to 6800cl34

>>
>>107506022
It's pretty useful on all cards, I did this with my friend's 2070 super and while I don't remember the mhz and voltage, his card consumes 60W less and is cooler too.
You just have to test it a bit, FurMark won't always crash it right away, sometimes it's only certain games that crash it. My previous 3090 undervolt crashed ONLY in Space Marine 2, nothing else.
Oh, and AI workloads. Those don't like undervolts as far as I've seen, it can crash the entire cuda runtime when I gen pics or text while undervolted.
>>
>>107506281
Undervolting reduces your power consumption, increases your performance and increases the lifespan of your components

>that understand ML, its not, they are really in a bad spot because they are having to hold back as they have to provide some sort of support to the Gabe Cube and probably PSR
They've focused Redstone feature development based on RDNA4 and next-gen GPUs.
PSR is separate from FSR Upscaling, and the Steam Machine might not even launch next year due to the memory shortages.
Valve concisely picked the cheaper RDNA GPU, so they're stuck with whatever features AMD gives it.

OCCT CPU + RAM test
Linpack (OCCT has this)
y-Cruncher (VT3 exclusively to stress test the memory controller).
Prime95 Large FFT
TestMem5 (DDR5 Intel or DDR5 Ryzen3D if relevant, plus any of Anta777 Absolute, Extreme, or 1usmusv3)
Karhu Memtest (paid)

TestMem5 and Karhu Memtest catches errors quite quickly, y-Cruncher VT3 afterwards.
Linpack can catch some errors that aren't exposed by these tests.

Do not leave CPU IMC-related voltages on [auto] when you run these stress tests; you might degrade the silicon.
