I read dozens of pages a day on monitor as well as paper as a law clerk and both tnr and calibri are unreadable garbage, my favorite is when boomers print tiny tiny sized tnr documents, very fun to read if they're long, unironically the most legible documents are old typewriter documents, the yellowish/beige paper, clear and bigger letters, it's just better, we can't even get fonts right today

Arial is specifically designed to be easy to read, so surely that's the best one. But fonts for short documents should be different from ones used in long documents, because human eyes read them differently. So there shouldn't be any Official US Government Font at all, not even if you want to pwn the libs which is all Republicans care about.
