>UK House of Lords to ban use of VPNs by anyone under 16

Oh no! No more 12 year olds shitting up the internet? Say it aint so!
>>
you know when you don't understand how things work (the uk house of lords can't actually ban anything on its own), you end up sounding a moron, even if you're making a good point
>>
>>107527331
>People try to use VPN to avoid British ID checks
>Government requires ID checks for VPN
Sneaky shits
>>
>>107527929
You're bloody right Rakesh these goddamn yanks are just a bunch of poofters I dare say
>>
More like the house of Jeets
>>
>Run this nonfree program to verify your age for this VPN or you're locked out
basically this
>>
>>107528128
More like house of retards.
>>
>>107527976
just double layer VPNs, only the entry one has your ID, becoming a layer 2 ISP effectively
>>
>>107527331
ban my dick, niggie boy
>>
>>107529501
i would say VPNs are a mandatory think in the UK actually.
>>
can we use this thread to talk about how we can actually prevent under 16 year olds from social media?
as a father i'm personally in favour of banning social media for these groups as the malicious algorithms are designed to maximize engagement can lead to things like anxiety etc for adolescents and ultimately fries their attention spans
>>
>>107529596
>can we use this thread to talk about how we can actually prevent under 16 year olds from social media?
buy a rope. tie one end on a metal surface. tie the other end on your neck. jump from a high place with the rope around your neck.
>>
well, it's worth it to stamp out child porn
or terrorism, or radicalisation, or whatever this will stamp out
>>
>>107529596
should have thought about that before you had a kid, it's your problem, be a damn parent
>>
>>107527331
>Knock knock
Who's there?
>The sink
The sink who
>The sinking of western civilization. It's over, the west has fallen
>>

Parental controls already exist, retard
>>
>>107527331
it's funny seeing how much this triggers trannies and groomers
>>
>>107527976
Yup, this is what it's really about. The 16 age is totally irrelevant, it's just a way to get everyone to hand over their ID regardless of whether they use a VPN or not.

The funny thing is that it might just cause tech-savvy teens to use the darkweb for their adult content instead, which can be much worse.

first comment
>"The “CSAM requirement” is that any relevant device supplied for use in the UK must have installed tamper-proof system software which is highly effective at preventing the recording, transmitting (by any means, including livestreaming) and viewing of CSAM using that device."

>"Regulations under subsection (1) must enable the Secretary of State, by further regulations, to expand the definition of ‘relevant devices’ to include other categories of device which may be used to record, transmit or view CSAM"

lmao what. britbongs wat r u doin

do you want windows recall on your refrigerator?
because this >>107529971
is how you get windows recall on your toaster oven.
>>
>>107527929
Retard, they've suggested amendments to the bill, which will be debated and voted on
One of the amendments bans VPNs to under-18s
Another requires smart devices to be shipped with software that prevents the device from storing kiddie porn images, they're probably imagining that AI can just magically do this
https://bills.parliament.uk/bills/3909/stages/20215/amendments/10027476
>>
>>107529971
This bill would have to clear the commons where it would get immediately shot down, so the answer is nothing
>>
>>107530516
i don't know anything about britpaki politics, but what gives you the confidence to say that it would not pass?
>>
>>107527976
I mean you knew it was coming. If I was a britoid I would be renting a VPS in a non-shit country so I could tunnel out
>>
>>107527331
kek good luck retards
>>
>>107529596
Just be a better father. It's not my responsibility to sacrifice rights so your children can play on the highway.

NTA right now Starmer is the most unpopular leader in modern British history and Labour is perpetually two weeks away from having a special election, holding on purely through backroom deals and bribes. Any more boat rocking and this thing comes crashing down. There are so many parties waiting to eat Labour's lunch and each one is gathering an arsenal of charges to bring against Starmer over it.

Trying to force this through when the BBC already caught Labour once using the the "BAN TO PROTECT THE CHILLUNS INNIT" laws was to silence critics of Starmer would probably be what they need to run that special election. Btw did you know almost 60% of senior officers are also set to retire this year in Britain? Everyone in authority is bailing out because nobody wants to be a part of this or be put on "mean word patrol".
>>
>>107530569
Will all VPNs be located in the UK to comply? How did the fine against 4chan work out?
>>
>>107529596
>can we use this thread to talk about how we can actually prevent under 16 year olds from social media?
Yeah teach them how to fucking use it and not get abused by it.

You wouldn't take a caveman from 10,000 years ago and drop them in modern America. You wouldn't take a Pilgrim from 400 years ago and drop them in New York City. They would get scammed or die. so why are you wanting to do the same thing to your kid? Like it or not, Your kid will have to live with social media the rest of his life. Your kid will have to learn to use a smart phone no matter how long you keep it from him. So do yourself and him a favor and sit down like a parent and teach him how to use it and be safe with it. STop trying to avoid it, be the father you're suppsoed to be and teach him that because an algorithm tells him to look at something, he doesn't need to actually do it. Teach him to roll his own Graphene install and run Linux on his computer. Don't do the equivalent of raising him in the deep woods before setting him loose in the middle of Atlanta and expecting him to not get scammed or robbed.

The problem is that we have a parenting issue that no one wants to address, the social media issue is a symptom of the parenting issue. Kids used to be smart enough to leave for the day, go to town with a few bucks, and find their own entertainment. Now, you're here on /g/ telling us how scared you are that they'll see a subversive squiggle on their screen. Man the fuck up.

Best they can do is 'ban' every VPN outside of Britain but I would have a better time keeping insects out of my house by writing a sternly worded letter to them and nailing it to my door than they do banning every single VPN on the wider internet that's not in Britain.
>>
They don't need to ban every VPN. Just ban the most popular ones and then run ad campaigns about how VPNs bypass UK protections which give your computer viruses. Russia did an anti vpn campaign and banned them as well.
>>
>>107531634
my post wasn't about VPN's, read the first quote again >>107529971
this implies some sort of software required by law to intercept all syscall(not even network) data and inspect it for csam.
>>
>>107531623
when was the last time the UK had a popular leader? i'm 38 and i can't remember one. what does it matter if your government collapses when they can just put a new old one in?
>>
>>107529971
You should be required to explain how it's possible to design software / hardware that can be "highly effective" at doing something that's impossible. How are you going to stop a random digital camera from being used. Every time I take a picture on my APS-C camera it's supposed to detect if its csam on device and then stop it? This is the Australians demanding "encryption but with a backdoor that only the government can use ;)" all over again. People who don't understand tech should not be creating or demanding legislation for it ever.
>>
>>107527976
Why would you need an ID check for that? Don't you already need to be at least 16 in order to use a credit/debit card?
>>
If you can't use one under 16, but I'm not under 16 and use one without giving my ID and pic of my asshole, can they prosecute me?

All countries should ban VPN access to anything but approved corporate sites. Especially to social media where browns keep using a VPN to stir up shit.

But at least we got rid of our uniparty, our republican and democrat equivalent parties are literally projected to get under 1/6th of the parliament seats combined

This argument would be valid if the whole environment inside those social media sites wasn't completly hostile against your own mind
>just teach them to use willpower
there are literally some of the best trained and best paid psychologist working on making these sides addicting
