This thing OP is shilling is just a GUI solution for all the bullshit parts of WINE/Proton. It is gold at what it does but it ultimately still only has the compatibility value of WINE/Proton. The configuration and version swapping is completely solved, but not the fundamental problems that WINE contributors and Valve employees/contractors are still trying to solve.
>>
>>107527839 (me)
It also uses gnome slop UI, if that matters.
>>
>>107527839
And the irony is that steam client does it better and if you want muh games, you likely do have steam and OP's slop has no usecase.
Buy an ad sirs.
>>
>>107527860
The steam client doesn't fetch non-steam runtimes and include them in the same list as the steam ones. You're comparing apples to oranges. Obviously the built-in steam support for non steam games is great, but as soon as you need to fiddle, you want to be using bottles so you don't have to dig through config and env var shit.

I was just pulling out an example of a broken as shit Windows program that people typically cite as why they stay on Windows. If I said something that actually works with recent games I'd get your skepticism.

steam is better for newer games, but if you need to use protontricks then it shits itself

I've been trying to make Toushin Toshi II work with inmm so I can listen to the ingame audio, but everytime I try it just doesn't work. The funny thing is, if I manually execute the .exe through wine console, it works.
What am I doing wrong?
>>
>>107528261
i haven't tried with tt2 specifically but from my experience
>if it's midi
you need fluidsynth or similar running on the host machine
>if it's cda
you need to rip cda tracks, put the in a folder, and then add all the paths to inmm and patch the exe. without ripping audio manually it won't work unless it's mounted in a specific drive
>>
>>107528341
Its cda, and it's already patched, that's why (I think at least) it works if I execute the game through the Wine Console.
As a matter of fact, I'm using Lutris, but essentially its the same thing under the hood, right?
>>
>>107528366
then i don't understand what's not working. the lutris setup?

Only if the software can run in WINE, that is, and the sad truth is that most software still can't. :(

If it says "Windows in a bottle", then its either just virtualised Windows, or trannies simply just lie again, the same way they lie in all other regards just to trick people into transitioning to their inferior trannyware.

WINE is an emulator, the whole "wine is not an emulator" thing was because of a lawsuit.

>>107530768
It's not a hardware emulator. It "emulates" the windows libc, but it's not an emulator in the conventional sense. Relevant to the discussion, it definitely doesn't "virtualize windows".

Pretty much all games work on Linux except for the ones that the developers intentionally blocked from running on Linux with their easy anti cheat shit. I'm not patronizing a company that pulls that kind of crap. Simple as. There are plenty of other games out there for me to choose from.

I prefer Heroic Launcher but where it fails, Bottles works since it offers a lot more variants of Wine.

When I see "it just works" coming from a Linux tranny I just don't believe it, it probably only "just works" on xeir machine, after extensive time spent on the configuration, and under a set of arbitrary conditions.
I only run Linux on my Steam Deck, which actually works, an actual fact.
Wish I could upgrade my desktop machine from windows 10 to a Linux desktop since 11 sucks hard, but everything available is hot garbage.
Better wait for 12 I guess, maybe they de-jeet themselves, until then it's 10 ltsc for me.

>I only run Linux on my Steam Deck, which actually works, an actual fact.
i also have a steam deck and run everything through steam. it's "just works" as long as you know which launch options to use and when, until you need to run protontricks manually and change stuff in prefixes

but on my work pc i have no steam and i decided to NOT use lutris because i hate its ui, and bottles is ALMOST there for being a hassle-free experience. you still need to know how win prefixes work and how to tinker windows (tho if you need to do that, it means the games has also problems running on windows)

like in my case i tried running old alicesoft game in a clean protonge/jap/xp bottle (i only had to manually add ms gothic font in the prefix, otherwise it worked but the text was ugly), and the only issue left was that there was no audio. but guess what? i actually had the same issue on windows... once i understood how to fix one i fixed the other the same way

also the fact the i can double click exe and run them in a native window is exactly what i needed from linux (though i still have to manually select which prefix to use and it doesn't copy all files in the prefix by default). maybe there are settings to fix this, but besides that i'd say its the only thing that makes wine usable.

oh and you can run multiple exe in the same bottle which is perfect for trainers and patches and stuff
>>
>>107527654
I found portproton easier to use.

Steam is electron slop. Also, I haven't found a way to set it up if all I have is an installer or a zip, e.g. something from GOG or itch.io. Also, I can turn off internet access for flatpak if I don't feel like sharing unity's telemetry.
>>
Windows refugee here. Is it common for bottles to break so regularly? It broken 3 times in the last 2 months.

Vanilla wine is more stable but I prefer bottles as I run some non-kosher windows programs.
>>
