>>107529473nice machine, are you using a rackmount server? how do you like rocky linux? Why did you choose it?
>>107529567>nice machinethanks its a work in progress. I only have a single TB SSD to hold me off atm because i hate spending money. I'll add more w/ raid later but don't find it necessary atm>are you using a rackmount serverYes, its a 3U short boy (16in depth) but since I'm not done with it (and probably wont be for a while) I havent mounted it in my cabinet>how do you like rocky linux? Why did you choose it?I chose it specifically as the preferred OS of a docker stack my coworker is working on. My company mainly creates VMs when they want something but I wanted something physical. Currently its used only to test his stack. I havent told them its not a VM yet, just reported issues and bugs I run into. I'm not sure if he'd be happy or upset that I popped his baby's 'physical server' cherry
>>107529687so, it's a homelab or are you posting your work machine here on /g/?
>>107529826100% home lab, i bought and paid for it and intended to use it as a home server to eventually replace my HP slim shitbox that I use as a NAS, emby server, and automation run server. I'm just using it to test a coworkers stack on physical hardware and... the deployment is actually nice, and makes me want to keep it. It includes an inventory manager, forgejo, a hashicorp vault, automatic cert generation, a fuckton of other stuff (30 pods atm)
>>107529869are you dev or admin?
>>107530032closer to a 'dev' role i supposeif i'm still talking to OP you got a nice bit of RAM; is that a home server or personal computer? I tried linux mint on another home server (to serve a very specific purpose) and backed out and went with windows 10 ent ltsc due to equally very specific linux mint constraints
>>107530087>>107530087>if i'm still talking to OPyes, you are, it's just the two of us so far :)>>107530087>you got a nice bit of RAMyeah, i am working with several VMs, was using QubesOS and some Docker Containers, like ArchiveTeam Warrior also LLMs>>107530087>is that a home server or personal computer?it's just my personal computer. RAM was pretty cheap back then, so I went with more ram, just to make sure
>>107530114what's that font?
>>107530156
>>107530171ty
>>107530144>yeah, i am working with several VMs, was using QubesOS and some Docker ContainersNice i wanted to do that on my personal computer but, ive just been busy with work and other personal projects lately and i guess i have that server to run VMs now anyway (or well, in its current state docker and kubernetes clusters)>also LLMsDo they run okay with that card? I built my PC about 6 months ago after having the same machine and never opening it for 8 years, and designed mine with virtualization and LLMs in mind. I played around with it at first, using ollama and trying stable diffusion webui but havent touched it in a while.>>107530144>RAM was pretty cheap back thenYeah my personal PC RAM went up 450% since I got it. Even my server RAM (4 32GB DDR4 LRDIMM sticks) went up 224% since i got it a month agopicrel is my personal computer's fastfetch. No, i don't have a fuckton of 8tb drives, thats just seperate shares on that hp slim shitbox NAS i mentioned. I wanted a seperate share for media, web server, automation scripts, and a share for work. I should just make one share desu, it clutters my file explorer
>>107530244>uptime 56 minthis is because my dumb ass accidentally hit the power button with my slipper btw

I played around with it at first, using ollama and trying stable diffusion webui but havent touched it in a while.I just run them with my CPU, i didn't want to install ROCM because of Stability concerns. I am using https://gpt4all.io
