say something nice about him
>almost entirely Chinkfimancompletely unserious list
>>107532581crinacle has bizarre taste and evaluates everything without EQ
>>107532633Not gonna fault him for noeq because outside of my 650s I listen to stock sound, but bizarre taste is on the money
Alright anons I am once again requesting your advice and tell me I am a retard here goesMy location is Mexico, but I can get my headphones from Amazon or I can ask for a friend to send them to me from USABudget, let's put 200-400 USDPrevious Gear, Sony XM4 I think they are fantastic, they have lasted me for a long time, the sound quality is good and I like the ANC whenever I game and listen to MusicWhat I am looking for, since my PC is a few feet away and I cannot use wired, I am looking for Wireless, I focus more on Single Player games and honestly with my XM4 on Bluetooth I don't notice latency, or maybe there is but I haven't "heard" it, but I want to boost my gaming audio experience.Open or Closed back? Closed I want a decent ANC when there is sound or any construction nearby and just focus on my game, as for profile I would like a balance of bass and sharp sounds for both dialogue and OST, I have been eyeing the XM6 since they must be way better than the XM4... right?
>>107532980XM6 build quality is honestly suspect (better than the XM5 at least, not as good as the 4 though) so I'd honestly just re-buy another pay of XM4's if you really like what they're bringing.Momentum 4 probably a good alternative if you really want something different, but I think Sonys in general are more comfortable.
>>107532547I've been in the hobby for 999 years and never even heard of that person outside of /hpg/
>"if you didn't perfectly double blind it and repeat the test 50 times, it doesn't count>"why no, I've never done a double blind myself. Amir said it's true, so it is. Do you doubt the science?"t.
>>107532414I need a lot less actually
>>107532414Do we hate treble because we're autistic...
>>107533973I think it's more of a joke about comfort, the Z1R has an infamous 10k treble peak which is worse than a lot of those cans in the picture. It's more that aside from that, the Z1R is well known for being comfortable and easy for long listening sessions, while audiophile fags will last less than a hour with the most uncomfortable shit to listen to 'true' audio
>>107534011>while audiophile fags will last less than a hour with the most uncomfortable shit to listen to 'true' audioImagine wanting to suffer like they do
>>107534011What kind of high end audiophile headphones are actually uncomfortable? I get Audeze maybe because of their weight, but every Sennheiser i had almost disappears, the egg shaped hifiman's with a strap as well.
>>107534030Senn 650's clamp pisses people off, 800s aren't fantastic, in my experience i didn't care for how Chinkfiman's felt but given their popularity I might be in the minority there. Old AT open-backs had meme-tier bands, but they've fixed them now.
true chinkfi endgame
>>107532980>XM6 since they must be way better than the XM4Nah, it's mostly the same. If XM4 works and you don't hear latency there is no reason to upgrade.
>>107534030>What kind of high end audiophile headphones are actually uncomfortable? The head flaps are the worst thing ever.
>>107534030everything (especially if over 400g) is uncomfortable until you've bent or outright replaced the headband and added a custom suspension strap (even if it comes with one, stock is never good enough)under say, $800, I don't expect stock pads to be comfortable either, and pad swaps can become a journey if you don't want to ruin the tuningin short, everything sucks comfort-wise unless it's Koss and weighs nothing
>>107534263They're very strange.
>>107532319I just ordered calibration mic. Gonna try to calibrate my setup this weekend. Wish me luck.
>>107534325Off the top of my head the only things I can say are genuinely comfortable are Z1R's and most ZMF cans. Apparently the Uli is too, I'll know when they ship out in Jan for sure.>>107534431Ganbatte
>>107534431Ganbatte anonkun
>>107534437>Apparently the Uli is too, I'll know when they ship out in Jan for sure.I'll definitely pay attention to what you have to say about them
Anons... My HD650s that I've had for 15 years are starting to fall apart.I don't know what to do. I haven't needed to even think about this shit for over a decade. Now there's things like hifimans and planars and other crap that confuse me. How can a boomer like myself figure out what I want?
>>107534471I'll do a write up on here for sure. Everything I read from SBAF sold me on them, the last time Marv got this hyper about something was for the SR-1as and those turned out to be as legit as he said.>>107534504You probably can get replacement pads and a headband still honestly. If the drivers are getting cooked then let us know the price range and we can toss you some suggestions. The 2020 650 isn't as great as your OG iirc.
everytime i try to eq my headphones or use someone elses eq profile they sound worse
>>107534520Try the PEQdb one, Sharur's a meme but at the minimum I think the target curve he set sounds less exhausting than the Harman one, and blows the Crinacle curve out by a lot.Might also depend on how you've adjusted to cans or what their base tuning is - I don't EQ my cans other than my 650s.
>>107534504Get another open back pair with similar sound signature. I like FiiO FT1 but I don't remember how it's compare to HD650. If you can, try some headphones before you buy. Or just fix your's with new pads and electrical tape.
Does it make sense to buy used headphones
>>107534511Chinks managed to copy the headband properly so you can get it on Ali for 4$ but unfortunately not the earpads so this still is going to be 39$. Although if they are not completely fucked you can stretch them back to the original shape with a hairdryer a few times before the foam totally disintegrates.

What is even the point of r2r?Intentional distortion to make it resemble 50 year old equipment designed before engineers figured out how to make digital audio not suck, and that's it?Or is there anything to it beyond pure autistic aversion to any change?
I don't know why but my headphones sound considerably better at night than during the day
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=daYgg2YSA2g
I bought a pair of hercules djmonitor 32 for $2 but I'm having an issue of them starting to rhythmically "thump" when they've been on for a while, ONLY when the two speakers are wired to each other. is this a fixable issue? like can I just glue a strip of metal to an overheating chip as a makeshift heatsink? I'm gonna try replacing the speaker wires first because the metal is literally green inside but I don't expect it to work.
I currently own pic related. they're lightweight but they suck otherwise.I need headphones & speakers for my desk to>play guitar & piano VSTs in a DAW>to listen to other stuff like classical music(other things too)AFAIK i need to pick something neutralshould I get the smaller speakers like the iLoud Micro, or should I go straight for something like Kali LP6 v2? Do big speakers still sound good at "low" bedroom volumes?also I can't decide between closed-back and open-back headphones. I don't want to hear people making noise in other rooms while I'm trying to play piano or watch a video, but IDK if closed-back actually isolate. AKA i don't know if i should get like MDR-7506/SRH440A or DT880/HD600.
>>107535202Chinese audiophile witchdoctors needed to invent new things the West hasn't monopolized yet. R2R was actually a pro audio staple into the late 90s, but if you're going to go that route, you may as well be building reproduction Apple DACs. Because they didn't go fully integrated until around 95. High performance R2R is 100% ching-chong hokum.
>>107535202The 'absolutely transparent' meme is also chinese marketing bait, anon. Nobody spoke like this until Amir started shilling Topping
>>107532319>DX5IIhttps://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/topping-dx5ii-teardown.64527
>>107540061Expensive chinese brands usually have good customer service. Chinks really believe in the "get what you pay for" mindset so they actually bother in these cases.
>>107540183The thing which confuses me more is that there are brands under Shenzhen which are still good quality (Xduoo and Matrix) - I can't work out which ones are their home grown ones and which they bought up under their distro empire. Other than Topping and SMSL, which were their grass roots ones.
>>107538358please respond
>>107535091last time you posted this dumb shit i asked "wym audio quality tanks when not used with iShit? source?" and (You) never repliedkys
>>107538358>IDK if closed-back actually isolateof course not as much as iems or stuff with ANC but sure, they usually have a decent amount of passive noise isolation (amount varies greatly depending on model, for example the mdr 7506 you just mentioned barely has any), that's the entire point of closed backs...
>>107538358No clue about speakers, but M40/50x might be a good call for headphones.
>>107540757some people on r*ddit say closedbacks are just for making sure nobody can hear what you're listening to, or for making sure a microphone doesn't pick it up if you're recording with one, but that doesn't matter in my case.I'm assuming that for recording with VSTs, openbacks will sound more neutral/accurate. at that point though I may as well just use speakers, right? IDK. I don't really see the point of openback headphones if you can use speakers.
>>107540800>or for making sure a microphone doesn't pick it up if you're recording with one, but that doesn't matter in my case.NTA but if your volume isn't ultra high, your mic won't pick it up. But of course it also depends on your mic, your headphones, volume, etc. My standup mic doesn't need to be up against my mouth like you see streamers do so there's no way it will pick up my audio. Although it will pick up my keyboard lmao.
>>107541185>Although it will pick up my keyboard lmao.the curse of the desktop setup
>>107541185you mean your actual computer keyboard or a digital piano
>>107541208That's okay, for any kind of recording I won't be typing anyway.>>107541571My computer keyboard. I sometimes use it for voice recording and it seems to work pretty well.
>>107540800>some people on r*ddit say closedbacks are just for making sure nobody can hear what you're listening toif sound doesn't leak out, that means that the headphone is closed/sealed... which also means the sound won't leak in, it's not a thing that only works one way.>IDK. I don't really see the point of openback headphones if you can use speakers.me neither desu, I only consider closed backs.there are some very niche use cases where open backs can have some sense over speakers but most of the time they don't imo, the fact that the hifi headphone market is 90% open backs has always been quite retarded to me.
