So, how do I maximize the longevity of my PC components? I don't want to have my RAM die on me when this shit ends up costing $2000+ in a few years.
>>
>>107532610
Run it at base speeds and voltages, disable auto-overclocking features (XMP/Expo, turbo and boost modes)
>>
Don't turn on your PC, and keep it in a cool, dry place.
>>
>>107532654
NAND and DRAM being powered off kills them. Obviously the information inside but also the physical cells. They need to be held open.
>>
>>107532610
Why not just do crime? Steal, rob, murder. Make the price irrelevant.
>>
>>107532663
If you're gonna go the crime route, killing the money bags is more effective.
>>
>>107532610
Just use it dude.
>>
>>107532610
by getting a job
>>
>>107532610
I built a whole spare PC for this reason. It's now sitting in a box in my closet, with holes and such covered in duct tape.
>>
If you want 30 years of usage rather than 25, undervolt everything.
RAM at base speeds and voltages (no XMP).
CPU at 1V
Fan directly over the motherboard to keep things cool.
>>
>>107535367
How much does XMP affect performance in games and such and does it at all? I think my PC became smoother overall after I turned it on, but I'm not seeing it in games and such. The FPS is exactly the same.
>>
>>107535374
+15% with xmp/expo, +30% with manual tuning
in cpu limited scenarios. turn down the graphics.
>>
>>107535367
most ram will run with lower voltages at xmp speeds and timings. i run my 1.4v ddr5 sticks at 1.35v without issue even with way tighter timings and a 200mhz increase
>>107535374
it makes a huge difference dont listen to him
>>
>>107532610
i've had the same rig for 13 years. twice have i removed the cpu cooler to dust it off and seated it right back onto the crunchy dry thermal crumbles and the machine works fine.
>>
>>107535374
In CPU bound scenarios and RAM heavy games, it can be anywhere from 5-35% performance difference.
If there is no difference, you are GPU bound.
Windows will feel snappier too. Non-XMP RAM has awful latency.
>>107535409
Depends on the brand and cooling situation.
>>
>>107535529
>cpu/gpu-bound
absolute zoomer faggot talk.

I set my power profile to power saver and then with lact I set my gpu power profile to power saver. I just leave it like this unless im playing a demanding game. I also undervolt my gpu with lact but im not sure if it applies while the profile is set to power saver. you really dont notice any difference unless you load a game and it makes my gaming pc generate so much less heat

Stealing lowers the prices for you. Killing the right people lowers the prices for everyone. More effective.

Sounds to me like you want to freeload on suffering of others
>>
>>107536437
The suffering of those who profit from the suffering of others, to be precise.

make sure you run as cool as possible

In 36 Stratagems, this is called "Kill with a borrowed knife". This person tries to incite random stranger to do the dirty deed.

no

If you go the stealing route, make sure it's in a left leaning state where if you get caught it'll just be a minor crime. Maybe you can get lucky and walk out with some when a pack of melaninated individuals goes and loots a store.
>>
have a job which gives you disposable income and that enables you to buy things instead of being psychotically stressed out over stuff breaking

stuff breaks, its normal

now ram breaking is basically unheard of
unless you do insane OC or something its just solid piece of sand, its not gonna do anything with the voltage regulations the mobo has built it
>>
>>107537748
>disposable income
Bad goy, you don't deserve that.
>>
Try not to turn off your PC too often. Just put it into sleep or hibernation mode.

Do you genuinely think using your current machine for the rest of your life is a possibility? You'll have to get new hardware at some point. Get a job
>>
>>107538132
NTA but I don't want to spend 1k on fucking RAM out of all the parts, this is not ok
