I don't run AI locally on my phone, bro. I SSH into my homeserver. Server RAM is still cheap and so are used 3090s.

maybe this ram shortage will encourage pajeetware companies to optimize their bloatware to use less memory
>>

Unless you mean analog landline phones you literally don't.
>>
Can't they just make programs more efficient?
>>
>>107533215
Hopefully, China will not allow their RAM fabs to sell at the highest bidder and will force them to supply other chinese companies.
Which means you will buy chinese phones and you will like it.
And if other companies lose their customers because they can't stop themselves from chasing a bubble, it is all the better.
>>
I'll just go back to using a landline.
>>
Just got a phone with 12 gb and built a computer last summer with 64 gb ddr5. I got lucky.. the memory kit i have is now 1000€

Means coders will actually have to be talented. Were probably doomed.
>>
>>107533215
You know, if some company here in the US were to start making RAM right now, they'd make a killing (in this context, that means; sell a lot, undercutting the prices from foreign importers).
>>
eventually investors are going to clue in that this bubble is hurting their other investments too right
>>
>>107538581
Let's do it, anon
>>
>>107538581
MAGAt thinking. Just start making it here, bro, how hard could it be?

>>107538591
eventually they will realize that chatgpt is a dead end which wont lead to AGI and then most ai companies will go bust
>>
>>107538581
The problem is that if you could have been making it cheaper in the US locally, people would have been doing that already. The other problem is that setting up a factory for such advanced electronic devices is neither cheap, nor quick, nor easy, so if you want to take advantage of this price hike before it goes down again but you're at the level where you don't even have the factory yet, it's going to be too late. The third problem is that even if somebody made RAM locally, they're still not a fucking charity. Maybe they'll sell it cheaper, but it's going to be like 10% cheaper because why the fuck would they leave money on the table? They're going to sell for as much as possible, as long as possible, to make the maximum amount of money even if they're local.

At any point calling the other side maggots does it ever cross your mind that that is how the bad guys would talk?
