Do you think donation notifications are an acceptable form of funding FOSS projects?
>>107539141Usecase for your money?
>>107539141Your mom accepts donations too
Why are corporations able to get away with using FOSS projects wile contributing nothing back?I'm not talking about violating licenses or laws, but them not facing social repercussions from the public at large.
>>107539141Yes they are and you complain because you are not actually interested in creating anything good
>>107539197Because the public is taught the letter of "open source" and factors like power and reliability being more important than freedom and co-operation. People are taught not to co-operate or defend their freedom to co-operate.
>>107539141I think it's more befitting a pan handlerI never use node but the last time I did, while it was getting libraries it marked some with "open to donations" or something like that, it rubbed me wrong
>Ads in my OSThis is just enshitification all over again. There is no good OS.
>>107539141you can turn those off when baking your distro. blame your distro maintainer for not doing so
>>107539141KDE did the same thing last December and their donations increased significantly. People are willing to support the projects they use when reminded.
Not if the recipient has DEI brainrot.
>>107539141Better than the advertisements Windows puts in the start menu, lock screen, and notifications.
>>107539141If people want to donate, they can donate, sure. I'm not donating to fucking Gnome though, holy shit.
FOSS can do whatever it wants, including promoting fag shit like cutting your dick off and diddling children.if you don't like it then fork it
