So windows 10 ltsc iot is good until 2032.
I can get my hands on it, as I know people in state and public sector and they are throwing out such licences since they are upgrading to 11. Availability is not an issue.
The issue is, SHOULD I do it? What is gaming and general usage like on this? It wasnt meant for the average consumer.
Secondly what are the drivers like? I am especially concerned since NVIDIA will stop supporting 10 in 2026.
On the other hand, there is no bloat, only security updates, etc.
Any suggestions? What is your experience?
I plan to dual boot on this thing and regular windows updates often enable the windows boot manager instead of GRUB. Does this happen on LTSC IOT too?
Should I just use windows 11 with debloater script instead?

Why would you pay for it? Just pirate it from massgrave
>What is gaming and general usage like on this?
it works
>I am especially concerned since NVIDIA will stop supporting 10 in 2026.
You'd still be able to use the old NVIDIA driver after they stop supporting it. Though it won't have support for new cards or security fixes.

>I can get my hands on it, as I know people in state and public sector and they are throwing out such licences since they are upgrading to 11
That wouldn't be any more legal than pirating it.
>SHOULD I do it?
Yes, I've been using LTS Windows versions for like 11 years, and they just work.
>What is gaming and general usage like on this?
Perfect
>It wasnt meant for the average consumer.
Yeah I would say the same thing if I were microsoft and wanted to gaslight people into using the pozzed ad-ridden versions of Windows. Their strategy works remarkably well, people will tell you not to use LTSC everywhere without them ever using it.
>what are the drivers like?
Never had an issue. Your devices will keep working, but yes, hardware manufacturers will drop windows 10 support.
>I plan to dual boot on this thing and regular windows updates often enable the windows boot manager instead of GRUB. Does this happen on LTSC IOT too?
I don't know, but LTSC 2021 supports WSL2, so there's no reason to have Linux installed on bare metal.

My card is 5060. Is that good enough? How good are NVIDIA fixes generally?
Also I wouldn't pay for it, I would get it for free because like I said I know people in companies that have unneccessary licences.

Why exactly is it illegal? Anyway I am worried about malware not legality. None of the cracked windows tools are open source. Who knows what they do.
>>

>Why exactly is it illegal?
Not sure if it's illegal, but anyway, Microsoft actually upgrades anyone's computer to a legit license so no need to mess with stolen keys.
> I am worried about malware not legality. None of the cracked windows tools are open source
So you put literally 0 effort into looking up anything about the shit you're talking about. The tools are open source. There's a windows thread on /g/ with guides. I have a feeling you'll be shilling Macs with the rest of the retards here within a couple of months.

How? I have windows 11 home. How will they upgrade it to enterprise iot ltsc?
>>
My main question with LTSC IoT is how long will 3rd party software support it?
>>
>>107542687
You can't change a regular installation to LTSC.
Microsoft offers an API that registers your device with a license on their servers. The activator script calls that API with your hardware IDs (it's called HWID activation), so Microsoft's servers will recognize your hardware whenever you reinstall Windows and it gets activated automatically. Actually you can even do a fresh install right after a successful activation if you want to make sure your system never had the activation script, even though it's safe.

Nobody knows. Lots of programs will stay compatible. The first incompatible programs will be drivers. The final nail in the coffin will be Chromium, but it will probably support it at least until the end if I had to guess.
>>

Can't Microsoft detect it in the future and fuck up my system? I know they usually don't bother, but this is enterprise edition and they do bother there.

I'm using it. Anything specific you want to know / checked?

If Nvidia stops supporting Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LGBT 2022, I'll switch to Linux for good.
I won't install Windows 11 and certainly won't install the unspeakable horror that's being vibe coded by jeets as we speak.
>>
>>107542766
As far as I understand, that is not possible.
>but this is enterprise edition and they do bother there.
They absolutely don't. They are literally giving away windows for free as updates now, that's the process this activation uses.
But there's an offline activation method too, so activating LTSC is always possible even if MS's servers are not available.
>>
>tfw you have an RX580 and a Ryzen 1700X
Microsoft, I can’t upgrade. I’m not poor by choice. I swear I’ll switch to Linux if you don’t reverse this stupid decision.
>>
>>107542816
Sure but can't they force an update that will force online activation?
>>
>>107542829
If you have old hardware it only makes the choice much easier. Windows 10 IOT LTSC
>>
>>107542838
They will not do that. The offline method uses KMS, which is an activation method for enterprises. One of its legit use cases is offline activation independent of microsoft's servers.
>>
>>107542876
Huh, I guess I will give it a try then. What about windows 11 enterprise, is it less vibecoded jeet garbage than 11 home apparently is?
I would assume they do some quality testing at least for their enterprise customers
>>
>>107542887
I only use the non-LTS enterprise version because that's what's on my work laptop. It's fucking horrible. It's literally worse in every way. It feels sluggish and unstable, sometimes shit just doesn't work, default programs take ages to open, etc.
Haven't tried the LTS version but unless you really really need Windows 11, I would stay on 10.
