What's the last good year for the Internet?
>>
>>107557549
Even 2012 would be stretching it, but 2013 is where i'd definitely put the cap. 2011 was both the peak and tail end of the pre-soiphone/jeet flood internet. I didn't realize it'd never get this good again going forward

The one before gamergate.

Yup, the internet peaked around 2011. Back then it was still not exactly a normie space, nobody cared about appearing racist or offensive, nobody used words like "unalived". When someone was acting retarded, you could just call that person a retard. It wasn't as corporatized, or algorithm-ized - videos that went viral did so naturally, they went viral because they were good, they had genuine spirit and creativity behind them. Now there are companies that crunch enormous amounts of data, they know exactly what is the current thing e.g. right now it's Marcus the worm And so they generate memes out of that, create all kinds of merchandise and other kinds of slop because they know that it's the current thing and it will sell. And then a few weeks later it's something else, rinse and repeat.

Around 2012 yeah. Just about when mobile enshittification and normie infestations was starting to get intolerable.
Although I remember the meme wars of 2015-2016 as like the last light before death. It was fun, although the internet never recovered.

Right before Facebook went public.

Smartphones ruined the internet
So i need a cellphone to finish their job!

I'll go back to 2012-era internet
It was really good

>What's the last good year for the Internet?
Hard question.
2012 was the end of the world. I would say yeah.
>>107557636
Even before that, it was going to shit, gamergate was a new era of shit, just like commentary channels which started in 2014 ish.
>>107557926
>It wasn't as corporatized, or algorithm-ized
You are making shit up for the sake of making shit up?

2016.

It's funny if you go through threads like this everyone is saying the early 2010-2014 Minecraft YouTuber era was the peak. You would be spit on a decade+ ago here for saying that shit but nostalgia fags gonna fag
>>
>>107557948
this. smartphones made the internet shit. all big companies started go to the web.
Sanitized and centralized it for the normies.
>>
>>107558486
Get rid of mobile-oriented web and you'll be happy
>>
>>107558459
And the modern Minecraft YouTuber is shit btw
