>get upset when GPU prices go up due to crypto
>dont invest in crypto
>crypto goes 100x, nvidia goes 50x
>get upset when RAM prices go up due to AI
>dont invest in AI
>AI goes 100x, RAM manufacturers go 50x

>ask AI the most basic of questions
>the answer is most likely incorrect
>no sources cited, it's literally just pseudo-random text
Why do people think there's any value at all in these things again?

I find that AI gets basic trivia pretty well, but when you dig deep the cracks and the hallucination start to show, which further poisons the context.
I think Paul Graham just said AI is good when you're not qualified to judge the output. Decisive stance taken.

R letter counters will be out of job in 1 more trilly

I suspect it's like this:
>i receive
people believe: OpenAI (not open, not intelligent) is buying all the RAM = they are building huge data centers = there is a lot of additional demand for "AI" = it seems sensible to sense to invest in OpenAI = OpenAI happy
>you receive
not more AI slop than before, because OpenAI is not buying all the RAM and they are not building huge new data centers
artificial RAM shortage = higher prices, unless you just don't buy. Imagine there was a RAM cartel making 3 times the money per GiB but selling only 1 quarter. Cartel wouldn't make sense anymore. Also, anti-cartel authorities might not investigate as much if they think it's a real shortage.

CPUs are next by the way. We're going back to Pentiums on 4GB of RAM, if you're lucky.

>4GB of RAM
will be plenty on 32bits

>we will never see reasonable prices on low-end and mid-ranged GPUs
Will it ever be possible to build a gayming PC for under 1k USD?
