Can't get 2x16 DDR5 to post, but will post 4x16 >gskill trident expo>aorus elite b650memory with 4 modules only runs at 3200. tried A2 B2, then A1 B1 with no luck.
>>107565004WOMM
>>107565004You enable XMP?
You might need to increase the voltages. My computer would work but black screen and crash once a day until I increased the RAM voltages with 4 sticks at a higher mhz, the crashes didn't occur at a lower mhz.
modern RAM is a huge scam. everything is unstable. it doesn't "just werk" anymore. ddr4 at jedec speeds is the last type of ram which "just works". ddr5 and high speed ddr4 are unstable garbage that relies on silicon luck or high voltage to be stable. That applies unless you have soldered ram. Soldered ram is stable at high speeds because the signal doesn't need to go through a socket.

>>107567300>buy cheap board>wahhh why it no worko
>>107567321it's not that simple. I had a cheap board, it did 3600 4xSR with GDM off. my new more expensive board shits itself at 3200 with gdm off
>>107567354shit* board then
>>107567373Now that I think about it both boards are cheap and shit.
>>107567354whats so bad with having gdm on?
>>107567506Latency and Ryzen loves low memory latency.
>>107565004>only 3.2 Ghz>onlywe have been spoiled
>>107567321Nigger I have a 4 figure workstation board that can't reliably post a JDEC speeds with 4 DIMMs. DDR5 is a complete failure.
>>107568986>workstation>4 dimms
>>107565004You are not giving it enough time to train the memory, be patent. The memory should be able to post at JEDEC mode. Can't guarantee the same for EXPO/XMP settings (factory overclocking). The reason why it posts with 4xUDIMMs mode is likely because the memory controller is training at an easier, much lower clockspeed. >>107568986It will post, but you are not giving the memory controller enough time to train. DDR5 takes a lot longer time to train then DDR4. It may take up to 5-10 minutes, once it is done newer BIOS version preserve settings so next cold boot will only take 1 minute to POST.
>>107569754I gave up training after 40 minutes.
>>107569024Yes genius, guess why I mentioned 4 DIMMs barely posting at JDEC speeds? It doesn't even POST with 8 DIMMs populated. Got three replacements of both the mobo and RAM before I gave up and moved on.>>107569754>It will post,The longest I let it train for was ~8 hours. DDR5 is irredeemable dogshit. If you got lucky and have something that can reliably work with 4 DIMMs+ congrats. I've seen this shit happen on two consumer, one workstation and a server board by now and I'm just done with DDR5. AMD and Intel might as well stop wasting silicon until DDR6 has matured.
>>107571138Skill issue or you got a workstation board that is defective.
>>107571138>Yes genius, guess why I mentioned 4 DIMMs barely posting at JDEC speeds? It doesn't even POST with 8 DIMMs populated. Got three replacements of both the mobo and RAM before I gave up and moved on.Completely made up or serious skill use. There's no way you couldn't get 8 RIMMs to post in JEDEC mode after a motherboard replacement.
>>107571349If it was Asus shit this was likely. Literally mutiple people have gotten mutiple boards with dead DIMM slots on certain models. There are probably hundreds of thousands of DDR5 servers working without incident.
>>107567300>>107567321Friend of mine fell for DDR4 4000, we've never managed to get it to run over 3200 even on my machine which runs 3600 happily.Honestly should be illegal.
>>107571138sounds like you got a bad cpu my friend, its rare but it does happen.
>>107565004If I had to guess you are using slots 1 and 3 and not 1 and 2 because they alternate and you don't know that. Look at the colors of the slots.
>>107572918A2 and B2 which is 2 and 4
