What the fuck is the point of these? Who has ever used the right side modifier keys for anything since the invention of the personal computer?
>>
>>107572828
Mine are
Alt
Fn
hamburger menu icon
Ctrl
>>
I use them to hit Ctrl+Alt+Del with a single hand to skip the Welcome screen on Windows machines
>>
>>107572828
I do, because I'm left-handed.
I also use the arrow keys instead of WASD for games.
You got a problem with that?

I use them all the time. You are supposed to use the left modifier keys for keys pushed by the right hand, and the right modifier keys for keys pushed by the left hand. For example: If you want a capital A, you use the right shift key, and if you want a capital U, you use the left shift key. How hard is that to understand?
>>
>>107572854
I see you have the white man's layout.
>>
>>107572982
I always use left modifier keys for keys pushed by the left and right hand. I never developed muscle memory for my right hand to use the right modifier keys.
>>
>>107572828
you have a point. I don't think I've ever used that area on a full size keyboard.
on my 60% keyboard, I do actually use that area because the function key is located roughly where the right ctrl key is in your photo.
I don't even remember what the key to the right windows key is in your photo.

Learn it, brother. Trust me, it's worth it. You will feel much more comfortable while typing. It only took a couple of weeks for me to develop this habit.
>>
>>107572828
The point is to take up space.
>>
>>107572854
mine are
command
option
fn
ctrl
>>
>>107573254
It's not. It's actually less efficient to train yourself to use right modifier keys. Think about it, it means up to 50% of the time when typing you have to keep swapping modifier keys to get the same result. It just wastes time and adds unneeded complexity.
>>
>>107573267
>having more choices is le bad
>>
>>107573309
First of all: It's not only about speed, but about ergonomics. Second of all: Using the right modifier keys let's you type quicker, because you make effective use of both hands and can minimize the movement required.
>>
>>107572828
FN goes there.
>>
>>107572828
I used the Right Ctrl key more than the Left one before I switched Caps Lock to Ctrl.
>>
>>107573345
By using only the left modifier keys my brain is objectively creating fewer synapses since I don't have to constantly context switch between which side of modifier keys to use while typing.

I am so sorry, anon, I didn't know.
>>
>>107572828
So why are you retards constantly looking for ways to reduce the number of keys on your keyboards? Are you fucking dense?
If you don't like what they do, remap them to something else and stop trying to save OEMs money.
Dumb fucking cunts.
>>
>>107573376
Why are you making more complex code, retard? Brevity is the soul of wit.
>>
They should put a screen there that plays Grubhub ads and locks your keyboard until you watch it
>>
>>107573406
This, holy fuck.
These idiots are literally paying more money for less keys.
They're probably all zoomers who grew up having only used phone/tablet keyboards.
>>
I use them occasionally. like if I have to hit alt then L i'll use the right side one. i also use the "open menu" key a lot

if anything, hitting that key and my heavy use of alt codes is more "classic computing" than people who insist on using the terminal for everything. while you type "shutdown" with a million switches to make sure the OS doesn't just halt and catch fire, I just hit Super, U, U, Enter
>>

I need to be able to hit ctrl+shift+n with one hand to free up my other hand for rubbing my dick

I placed control next to spacebar and use it for zooming/scaling. You also need FN key somewhereif you have one. I hovewer don't know how to use these besides pages(but I don't know whats the point), delete and printscreen.

Short cut combos for CAD, Solidworks in particular. Right hand on mouse, left hand over keypad for dimension entry. Use modifiers to quickly adjust items like viewstyle, tangent edge display, whatever.
Bit of a faff with a spacemouse on the other side of the keyboard but that has its uses.
I find clean installations (working on site) a pain to use as I have to go on an icon hunt.

Eta wtf is this new captcha?

Press end to go to the end of a text entry line, home to the beginning. Combine with shift to quickly highlight a line.

I don't get why this is still a thing. By default it should be mapped for something useful like opening search/changing language/showing random picture of a cat. Anything is better than shouting mode.
>>
>>107572828
alt+left_arrow is go back one page in browser shortcut.
ctrl+left_arrow will go back one word when you are in a typing field. alt+left_arrow does this in terminal
and shift+enter for some form fields
I bound combinations of mod keys with my PrtSc for capturing drawn section, window only, fullscreen, or delayed screencap.
also other things already mentioned like >>107574100
