Currently have a 750ti.

Am I good to buy some random used GPU for lilke $100 off ebay? I'm thinking either a 980ti or GTX 1080

i used an r9 290 with my 4690k until a couple years ago. the only reason it was semi-usable was the 2400 rams THO.

1070 8GB version, otherwise cpu will bottleneck
>>
>>107576458
1080 or so sounds like a great choice.
Don't be afraid of bottlenecks, especially if you find a more powerful part cheaper.

Bottleneck just means if a less powerful alternative costs less, you'd get more frames in an average game if you saved on that part and spent more on a different one. So if your workload isn't average games, or you can get a more powerful part for the same price or less, or you're getting one thing more powerful with the thought of upgrading something else in the future, all talk of bottlenecks goes out the window.

depends on what youre trying to play, driver support can be an issue, id honestly go pascal like the 1080 or 1070ti or something just because the drivers will be relevant to more current games

in the prime of the 4790k people were pairing the titan xp with it at times, we were still in quadcore intel hell with pascal, anything around that sort of tier will do fine
sometimes you can get 12gb m6000's for like 120 buckaroos and if youre doing anything with modern games those can hold up pretty alright just due to the extra vram over a 980ti or 8gb 1080

anything less than a 1080ti and you're shooting yourself in the foot

realistically go buy a rx 9070 or the arc b770 when it comes out at CES

if you only have $100 to spend, just save your money

Can you explain in real human terms why spending $500 or more isn't a waste of money while spending $100 somehow is a waste of money? There are actually thousands of games that can run on a 1080 that can't run on a 750ti. There are dozens of games that can run on whatever you think is a good buy that can't run on a 1080.

I had a GTX 970 with a 4760k originally. It was okay for a long while, could run Witcher 3 or Destiny 2 well enough on it. Something like Cyberpunk technically ran, but was unplayable. Maybe with one of those it would be?

I later updated to RTX 3060 12GB for coombrain image generators because the GTX was slow as fuck with them, but that's probably more than you want to shell out. It worked well enough, though. It has it's limitations (e.g. if you'd ever want to generate videos, the RAM and CPU will slow it down A LOT), but it should be good enough for gayming.

Because he's assuming you want to play the latest games or play in 4K. If you're happy with older games and 1080p or even 720p, a used 1080 is alright. A 1080ti is a significant jump up from that and will be useful to you longer, but I don't know how the used market prices compare between them right now so it may or may not be worth it.

Just buy a ps5 bwo
>>
>>107576458
Get a 2070. And maybe a core i3 while your at it
>>
>>107576458
RX 570, Vega 56, 1070, 1660
All good choices around $50, +- 20
>>
>>107576458
RX 580 8GB

1080ti/2080ti if your PSU can handle it, if not i'd go with a 1060 or a 2060. If you have potato pc, then an rx 6400 would be good nuf.

RX 5700XT

I have the same CPU but with a GTX 970 and I'm thinking about grabbing a used GTX 1080 Ti or RTX 2080 for around $150. I was also thinking about buying a 2080 Ti vs 3070 for a little bit more but I'm not really sure which is better they seem similar the 3070 has newer tech.
>>107576489
Does this really help much? currently on 1600mhz ddr3 would getting a cheap kit of 2400 improve fps much?
>>
>>107578657
just overclock your current kit
maybe you have samsung green ram, that shit does 2800
