NVIDIA to cut GeForce GPU supply in 2026>https://overclock3d.net/news/gpu-displays/nvidia-plans-heavy-cuts-to-gpu-supply-in-early-2026/
I’m old as fuck and I can’t remember a single technology that was so obviously a mistake out of the gate like AI. I hate it so much already.
thanks for opening the 4th thread about this without checking the catalog first

>>107582243We are witnessing a collaborative sabotage of the consumer market by all hardware companies as punishment for users complaining about AI.Today, we have hardware capable of running computationally expensive workloads and even running local LLMs, who I greatly diminishes the perceived value of """AI.""" Nvidia et all therefore have concluded that they must change the world such that AI is a neccessity, rather than face the truth that it currently servers virtually no purpose. How will they accomplish this? By starving us of hardware. Shutting down their consumer hardware brands to fully focus all their efforts on AI. Starving us of powerful hardware. Forcing us to rely on cloud solutions where we must pay subscription fees and have our data harvested for slow and unreliable services. Its already happening, new phones and laptops will release with gimped specs. GPUs will have a production shortage and and be priced extremely high. RAM and storage will be unobtainable.
How long do i have until prizes double and triple?
We really are headed for the owning nothing timeline.
>>107582293Hopefully the bubble pops and kills the economy while it's at it.
If I am to panic buy a 5070ti tomorrow, which brand/model should I choose? MSI?
>>107582243>he didn't buy a 4090 when he had a chanceHonestly if you aren't future proofing for 5-6 years when you build a new PC you aren't thinking for the long term.
>>1075827879070xt
>>107582736yet people talking about the great reset were laughed at
>>107582243Gg
>>107582754That's exactly the Agenda 2030 endgame with the great reset. We've seen a shift towards stakeholder capitalism (communism at the bottom, fascism at the top) in the past 4-5 years. But the burst of the bubble is the final nail in the coffin. Once the economy tanks it's war time goyim!!
Should I upgrade from 3080 TI to 5080? I was initially planning to wait for Super.
>>107582796I want to gen.
>>107582243Unfortunately, game devs won't stop getting shittier at optimization. If GPUs becomes scarcer, their price goes up, which means fewer people will upgrade. This then means that people won't be able to run the newest AAA slop... so, a gaming crash is imminent.Wonder how steam will treat their customers (read: people who bought "licenses" from them) when their revenue stream dries up.
>>107582893Gaming industry is already fucked. In fact, I wonder if this downscaling is also because Nvidia doesn’t see a future in it.
>>107582243>ITT: /v/tards who didn't see this coming as back as 2017.
>>107582944All the money is in addiction forming gambling simulators full of FOMO where you spend money to roll for .PNGs with voice lines. Why would you spend millions on complex gameplay in life sized 3d areas when you could just comission some pixiv artists to draw you waifus and release ~8 of them in some event every few months.Makes way more money, is way less risk, can be played on old phones. This is why all the companies we know are either dying or getting into mobile games as well.
>>107582982>Why would you spend millions on complex gameplay in life sized 3d areas when you could just comission some pixiv artists to draw you waifus and release ~8 of them in some event every few months.FIFY, have AI/ML generate the stuff and rotate inventory every 6-8 months to keep FOMO going on.
>>107583004Currently not that viable, AI sucks at coming up with original characters. It can come up with plain as fuck background characters, but not main character designs.
>>107583019>Copmium from artists who are getting outsourced. It is merely inevitability.
>>107583091No, I use image gen a lot. This is just how it is already. If you don't gen a specific character, their hairstyle, accessories, facial features etc. become super generic.
>>107582944Nah, the game industry state has nothing with that. They already scaled it down for datacenter cards. What happened are memory prices and regular buyers. In 4xxx series people were buying low memory cards despite bad reviews, but that didn’t happen with 5xxx series. But then menory prices went upso they can’t get good margins and prices with super cards. So they’ll likely do a paper launch and work on 6xxx series.
>>107582243I guess the catch is that if they starve the consumer market, everybody's computers will now be shit, so everybody will be forced to use AI even for most basic computation, then they will charge for that AI and they will make their money back.
>>107582243What GPU should I buy for this winter theb? A 16 or 24GB card?
>>107582956I still made the wrong choices buying high and selling low every time
>"The computers went wrong when you made them for datacenters!"
>>107582793I own a 4080. How future proof is it.
What's hilarious is a fucking videocard company is now trying to dictate the entire human social experience by basically crashing the entire consumer electronics industry single-handedly. If you told me Nvidia would be doing this in 2008 I would have laughed in your face.
>>107582243WaitIf AMD holds the fort long just enough rather than giving it to the AI fad, this would make a decent shift in market share, at least of never builds. Which would mean an important fraction of newer builds no longer have the most immediate obstacle of switching to Linux (it already works. Somewhat. But not good enough and far behind AMD)
This what happens when you base your multi trillion dollar company out of a few factories in Taiwan that cost billions to create new ones, and can be shut down at any time if Xi gets any crazy ideas.Better brush up on 6502 assembly as that is all the cpu power you're going to get if things fuck up.
It's fine. The AI bubble will pop in 2026 and we will all be able to scoop enterprise grade hardware for cheap when these companies liquidate their datacenters.
>>107582243i will never bow down to streaming cuckery everjust got a new external drive.... fuck (((them)))im hoarding now
>>107583112That's how AI works. It just averages everything together. If you want something more chaotic, you need more advancing prompting techniques.
Fuck Trump
>>107584118holy cope
i cant wait until literally everything on earth costs 10x what it costs now and we're all forced into poverty
i'm considering buying another b550 board and a 5600g just to sit on forever and just not upgrade for 10+ years, i'm so disillusioned by the current "tech space"
Maybe 32 gigs was the most we got in a consooomer card this decade.
>>107582243clearly, why build chips when one can find no memory with which to pair them?
>>107584277i did it, panic bought a b550 and a 5600g
>>107584294They regret ever having given us this much. This is enough to run some useful models and that's much too dangerous for their bottom l- for everyone.
>>107584118>Mein Fuhrer....Nvidia announced they are scaling down production of GPUs in 2026. There won't be a supply to buy back
