theres not a single one that isn't plagued by the same retarded problems as modern combustion engines vehicles>unwanted software updates breaking things >cheaply made>repairability is out the window so companieis can maximize profit>overpriced>spyware loaded into every facet>subscription services to enable features the vehicle already has
The tactical reason is those recharging stations are now bright spotlights for hard homelessness heuristics, and a city trying to remove any is known to then attack post-scarcity.
There's literally nothing stopping anyone from making the Speed Queen of electric cars. But instead you get to drive the car that electronically locks you inside when it catches fire.
>>107583533No automaker wants to build that.Best thing you get is maybe a toyota but their EVs suck
I really wish you retards would pull your heads out of your asses and buy from legacy automakers. They don't have these problems. The Ford and Chevy EVs are just cars that just happen to be electric the same way in the 80s-90s they started making cars that just happened to be FWD not "FWDVs." Buttons, normal sized screens, mechanical doors. But no you only care about Tesla and Rivian and Xiaomi imagine that buying a car from a company with 15 years of smartphone experience instead of 150 years of car experience no wonder you don't like it
>>107583577Legacy Automakers have there own problems, if anything most if the points OP makes apply to most modern vehicles. GM right now is selling fucking wet timing belts. Why? Because it's probably cheaper by a few cents. It's actually very telling that OP never mentions any real specific problems with TeslasThay being said I own a toyota
>>107583647Wet timing belts are fine. A bit more of a German style in that they're harder to work on and your engine will explode if you skip the maintenance but also they're quieter and longer lasting when taken care of and give better fuel mileage and emissions. It's a legitimate engineering tradeoff. It's not form over function like electronic door handles or just cheaping out like with plastic "cloth" seats. If you don't want your car to keep exploding in complexity and getting choked out by emissions standards, well, buy a car with an electric drivetrain.>I own a toyotaOh, that would explain it, those fuckers are completely incapable of manufacturing any drivetrain that isn't a HSD these days. Worst of both worlds. And you have to pay a monthly subscription to unlock the car with your key fob lmfao.
>>107583759>tradeoffA very bad one.Only a kraut would defend such nonsense.>incapable of manufacturing any drivetrain that isn't a HSD these days. Worst of both worldsMechanically much simpler however. Are you going to dispute the reliability of them?
>>107583858The transmission itself is bulletproof no doubt, just because the gears never slide past each other on the shaft axis. But having a $4,000 battery replacement (more for an SUV) looming over you eats into a lot of the cost savings traditionally associated with owning a Toyota. It would cost a lot less and be less frequent if they would use Li+ or LFP batteries but last I knew they were still on NiMH. Toyota hasn't innovated anything in like 20 years.
>>107583858>Mechanically much simpler however.>Are you going to dispute the reliability of them? You know what's really simple and reliable? No transmission. Or more accurately, a reduction gear. Most BEV reduction gears and while we're at it differentials are rated for 1,000,000 miles and replacing the fluid simply isn't on the maintenance list.
>>107583883They are li-ion nowAlso the battery swap 200k miles down the road is ironically cheaper than having to replace something like a wet belt regualry. Also the entire car is much simpler, everything is electric, including accessories+AC (atleast on the prius). There isn't even a serp belt.>>107583910Toyota hybrid trannys are literally just a reduction gear like an EV. No cvt belt, no torque converter, etc
>>107583336Made by spics, niggers and chinks what did you expect?
>>107583941>Toyota hybrid trannys are literally just a reduction gear like an EVNo, they're a planetary gearset which will wear a bare minimum of 3x faster and has more slop for the torque to push on and therefore more drivetrain losses. Also you have to waste power spinning MG2 backwards most of the time to not explode your transmission.
>>107584045>No, they're a planetary gearsetHow do you think gear reduction works in some EVs? Some use planetaryEither way I get the feeling I'm not supposed to buy hybrids and it's either buy full fledged EV or ICE non-sense with wet belts, CVTs and turbos.Toyota hybrid is the worst thing in the world.
>>107584193It's all a meme don't but if it breaks you are fucked
>>107583336gonna have a good laugh when new cars increase 100% in cost because of 'ram shortages' and the goy cattle will just eat it up with no resistence what so ever.
>>107583336You forgot>Service life permanently drops every year>Battery replacement is 60%+ the cost of the carThey’re such a nuisance to the environment when you consider the way these vehicles are made. EVs are the iPhones of the automotive industry and I’m glad Kamala was stumped last year so we can keep Internal Combustion Engines around.
