The dumbest plug design in the world, bar none.
>>107585119its 250V and safe, hows that 125V working out for ya?
Cope
>>107585119since every other country's shit plugs have the wire coming out the centre, these have a smaller footprint.you can put furniture right up against the socket and still have something plugged in.
>>107585119If you spin the cable above your head you can knock someone out.
>>107585119>Plug into wall socket>It says attached without any support or sagging.Simple as, it just werks.
>>107585728Retard
>>107585582>hows that 125V working out for ya?Just fine?
>>107585119It's literally the best engineered plug that has widespread use.American plugs are loose like their women.
>>107585119The prongs used to be circular but in the 1950s the UK changed them to the rectangular ones seen here, ostensibly because it fits more securely. In South Africa and India they still use the round-prong ones.
Do they have a fuse inside? I watched a video about them a while ago and some of them have a fuse inside and the wire is bent, if you pull the cord and somehow it breaks, the neutral dissconects and the hot remains unexposed, pretty neato
>>107585119>go to country outside of UK/Ireland>genuinely think I'm about to be electrocuted when plugging anything in or out because the plugs and sockets are so loose and shoddy How the fuck do people use twoprongshit on a daily basis?
There are some fun hijinks we can get up to in America with our plugs but the bongs actually got this right (because they had to rebuild their whole grid in the mid-20th century).>not cucked to 120 V>no lateral strain>but you can rewire the whole thing anyway>safe for kids>switches on every wallplateThe only thing I don't like about British wiring is they do high-capacity ring circuits instead of branches and you have to replace fuses in the plugs instead of flipping the breaker. Also what the fuck are these new captchas?
>>107585928it's the electrical equivalent of padded rollcage retard helmet, makes sense it's from the country that's actively sequestering itself from the big mean scary internet
>>107585582I was in the UK for the first time this year. After 3 days the ground of one of our plugs broke off inside the recepticle. It's a super shit design and you should feel bad
>>107586179>After 3 days the ground of one of our plugs broke off inside the recepticle.this has never happened in my 31 years of living.stop being a monkey smashing plugs into walls
>>107586179Says more about your shitty travel adapter, no?
doubles as a heavy duty caltrop in case you don’t have legos. brilliant!>>107586072falsenuke. the euroshit is so tight it’s a pain to get it out.
>>107585582250v is nice when you have to stuff the washer-dryer in the living room of your council house.
ITT: Ameritards malding that everything make and do is utter shit compared tot he rest of the worldmust suck living in a backwards 3rd world shithole
>>107586231dryers don't use more than 500w anyway
>>107585928Type F is coziest. I just like it.>>107586072Take your meds maybe.
>>107586116>>not cucked to 120 VInstead cucked to 230V. Cucked when you realize the rest of EUROP has 400V right in the kitchen.
>>107585119UK plugs are unironically the best ones out there.
>>107585119disagreethey got us beat with that design but its too late to change
>>107586021yes.
>>107586179You probably had some cheap Temu/Aliexpress garbage that didn't meet the BS1363 standards spec. It's been a big problem over the last several years, not just for bongs but lots of other countries too - total trash that isn't legal. It's hard to tell if it's incompetence and cheapness/jewry on the part of the Chink manufacturers or deliberate malice by the CCP to flood our countries with unsafe trash as a form of subversive lowkey economic warfare. Never ascribe to malice what can be more simply ascribed to stupidity, I know, but with the Chinese one can never be too sure.
>>107586376this is the main reason i get mine from screwfix. i miss their catalogues.
>>107586376Well even with a super cheap Schuko plug that just straight up won't happen. the socket itself provides the stability for the plug to not break off.Sure, my adaptor wasn't made well enough, but still, It's a shitty design to have the prongs visible when plugging it in and you know it.
>>107586347congrats on falling for the bait
>>107586116Britain is the only country with safe electrics. Even with 16A breakers, you are still not safe, because small appliances like table lamps have cables which cannot take 16A. In the uk small appliances have 3A fuses.
>>107586347> but its too late to changeNot true, nothing stops you from buying and installing British sockets. Free yourself from your primitive savagery.
>>107586318i like type f too and they and type g should be best friends. only downside about type f is it allows type e to sully it unopposed.
>>107586452We have schizos who work for the government too.My social landlord reported me to the fire department for having "too many cables" near a cupboard door. I was using it as my server room, total load? 350W, on a decent power strip, everything in order and they were having a proper melty.Fireman came out, looked at it went "that's fine la'" and left. Stupid bint probably leaves her hoover plugged in too or her microwave on. Some cunts'd be right dangerous if they had brains.
>>107587277Go to bed Nigel.
>>107585947There's still a bunch of the large, circular ones around in homes. Less common in new builds I think but my hot water heater uses the thick cunt plug.
>>107587295Every plug should be C13 / C14.
>>107585119How often is it a problem that one steps on one of these things on the floor in the dark?
>>107586410>It's a shitty design to have the prongs visible when plugging it in and you know it.??????????????????
>>107587319My upstairs neighbour does it all the time, about once or twice a week. Plugs in different chargers beside her bed, then steps on them when she jumps out to go piss urgently because she's like 4 ft 11, can here her swear when she does it too.You don't wanna stand on one. I nearly stood on one last Thursday.
>>107585119
>>107587319it's not. there isn't a reason to unplug things due to the switch. unless it's something like a vacuum cleaner, drill, things of that nature.there are people who have shitloads of plugs that lay them under windows though.
>>107585582great, I don't think about you at all
>>107586329As usual Bongs do it best
>>107585119it's same here except the pins are semi circles at the top like a semicircle above the cylinder
>>107587493
>>107587525I'm not 'Murican. I'm something worse.
>>107585119>eu standardizes currency>eu standardizes use of usb-c>eu can't standardize a power plug socket or votlageThe best standard outright is the NZ/AU standard.
>>107585119>reliable connection>has safety fuse instead of blowing up your deviceonly an american would think it's dumb. >>107586179and then everyone clapped>>107586231>man that lives in parked car writes something about a council houseclassic g
>>107587710it's reliable, it makes good connection. hard not to like it. is the best by far.
>>107588593The earth-first shutter mechanism may seem overengineered but works so well. Imagine living somewhere without grounded outlets, I'd be on edgeFused plugs too, it simply makes senseUK plugs are the best we should restore the empire and remind the rest of world how to behave
You live in a shithole and your plugs are shit too
>>107585119And theres a fucking fuse inside it
This is about the only thing bongs get better than anybody else.
>>107587493Legendary post
Imagine not being able to pull 3kW on any outletBrits do it best
>>107586376Based BS spec knowing anonDoubt intentional malice, probably a convenient side effect. Living in a large communal building I've an increasing concern about all the dubious lithium batteries in everything everywhereMany little fireworks waiting to go off under the right conditionspic unrel
>>107586471You need to completely re-do the electrics in your house to properly use British sockets (assuming American)
>>107586324woah
>>107586324You can absolutely get 3 phase in your kitchen if you want it, it's just that almost no one outside of a professional setting will need it.
>>107585119I fully agree. You can't even begin to imagine how inconvenient this plug is until you're confronted with it.
>>107585119People say Brits aren't allowed weapons when we have dozens of these things in our houses
>>107585119this and every other plug design gets absolutely mogged by the F>symmetrical so you can plug it in upside down if you want to>the grounding contacts keep the plug firmly in place>recessed thus allowing the plug to keep a low profile>not ugly
>>107586324>why yes, I do like to make my morning smoothie in an industrial cement mixer
>>107592379> recessedI love having a hideous axe wound in the wall.
>>107586179Funny, I went to the states and the plug fell out of the socket constantly. US design is actually shit.Plus I had to wait 45 minutes for the coffee machine to make me a brew.
>>107591923No I've watched loads of videos your entire houses are get 230V only.>>107592608Kek. It's for the stove. They don't use the 400V but they are using all 3 phases to N. Still is nice to have 3 phase in the house by default.
>>107592379Not so bad to step on either since it can't really stand with the prongs facing up.
British lords carrying faggy purses was a premonition to being able to carry massive cell phone chargers on their person. Americans and leafs can have chargers 2cm wide with folding prongs.
>>107585119Great bait thread OP.
