Last I knew Waterfox was a glorified user.js looks like now they actually add features and ship uBO in-band which is nice because the Mozilla store is run by the dumbest people they can find which is saying a lot being Mozilla. Unfortunately it looks like they don't have a patch fix for non-progressive PNGs having white backgrounds instead of transparent ones. That's one of my biggest issues with Firefox using imageboards so much.

I am sick and tired of Firefox getting shittier every update. Whoever replies to this decides if I install waterfox or librewolf.

I'd switch to Qutebrowser full time if it had a uBO/uMatrix equivalent + some of the other extensions I use frequently. I'm not sure I really want to get into the world of firefox forks since I already just use arkenfox user.js with regular firefox and I doubt the forks are all that compatible. It's also why something like ladybird isn't going to be good for a while until there's proper extension support
>>
I miss cyberfox

I was on XUL-enabled Waterfox until it became utterly unusable and then switched to Librewolf while keeping WF Classic for one extension I use for one task and can't go without.
Is there any reason to use the up to date version over LW?
>>
>>107587801
I'm considering. Does it work the same with no downsides?
>>
>>107590755
Try Zen browser instead. A better fork and not just some basic userprofile.js thingy
>>
>>107587801
Waterfox-chan looks pretty cute. But what are the tangible benefits to switching from Firefox?

"No AI" really just means "Actually we do have AI it's just not turned on (((yet)))."
Any alternative to FF that isn't "We're just firefox but also liars?"

You get to virtue signal over outright lies with the PR people.
>>
>>107587801
It's also firefox though.
>>
>>107592471
back in the day waterfox was 64bit firefox, so it had serious benefits
nowadays it's just a simple fork, it changes default settings to remove all the bad "mozillaisms", from things like AI sloppa (except where it makes sense, the translate page local ML is still enabled because it's actually nice) to Pocket, Chat, etc. also removes all telemetry. it also changes the style back a little bit, to still having tabs, and includes treestyletab (though, honestly just use sidebery instead), and includes container tabs by default (normally you need to install a noop extension to enable the feature)
i like it because for me it's nigh zero-setup to something i'm happy using, but honestly it's nothing special and you can just as well use bare firefox and tweak it yourself
>>
Any thoughts on Floorp?
>>
>>107587801
tell them to bring back pre memory leak FF (would just run just fine in a system with 8 gb of ram) and I might consider
>>
>>107590755
Yeah, there's basically no major difference between it and Firefox outside of some about:config changes and a few more options in the privacy settings, so I'd argue it's pretty much the most straight forward switch if all you want is "Firefox without Firefox's bullshit"
>>
>>107587801
way ahead of you OP. I switched once they wouldn't let me use adblock anymore
