Why overpay for RAM if you can literally just do this?

you still need RAM doofus
>>
>>107591467
No, it's integrated, 16GB.
>>
>>107591462
thinking about buying one of these even though I don't need one lol
>>
What was this used for initially? Crypto shit? Google stadia?
>>
>>107591462
show me this piece of shit running cyberpunk
>>
>>107591462
why would i want a brownstation 5 apu? for what reason?

Not anymore lol
>>
>>107591462
You still need RAM for that thing, numbnuts.

>omg steamboxes don't use RAM
Neck yourself, dipshit.
>>
It has one critical problem

16GB is combined VRAM and system RAM. So you allocate 8GB to VRAM that leaves you with 8GB for system. And unless you can solder VRAM you can't expand the RAM

>>107592377
>hes doubling down on being a giant retard
>>
>>107591471
No you niggerfaggot. Sure it's "16gb" shared between the cpu and Gpu. You only have 8gb and 8gb each.
And it only runs gnu/Linux and as such, only games that work on gnu/Linux
>>
>>107592422
>You only have 8gb and 8gb each.
APUs do not allocate memory in a super defined way like this. AMD has an entire technical document on this. Stop posting here forever.
>>
>>107592378
I'd go 12GB RAM / 6GB VRAM.
The GPU isn't powerful enough to require 8GB, anything will still play fine with 6GB at 1080p and the GPU can't do more anyways. That would be enough for gaming for the performance level we're talking about, for both RAM and VRAM.

>>107592422
This means it's not integrated, how?

>You only have 8gb and 8gb each.
No, you can choose allocation.

>And it only runs gnu/Linux and as such, only games that work on gnu/Linux
For 100 bucks that's a lot of games.
>>
>>107592435
>For 100 bucks that's a lot of games
for a 100 bucks = hacked ps4 which runs ps3 and ps2 games = a trillion games
>>
>>107591462
So is this e-waste or a good idea? Also is there a mid-range version of this hack, something even a bit better?
>>
>>107592514
What the fuck do you mean hack? Its just defect binned inventory being reused.
>>
>>107592505
Ps4 is not fast enough to emulate ps2 let alone ps3. It can do ps1 and psp but you can get a much smaller and lower power device to do that.
>>
Every time there's a good deal floating around some youtuber shows up
>$100 GAMING PC WITH PS5 PERFORMANCE OMGGG
then suddenly that niche cheap thing doubles or triples in price
>>
>>107591712
going by the currently available ebay listings, they were used to mine crypto.
>>107592167
there's a guy with stock selling them for 115 + shipping.
people aren't going to buy this because the set up sounds annoying.
i thought about it but i'd rather just put the hundred bucks into saving up for a real upgrade since my PC is fine for the foreseeable future.
>>
>$100 Goyzen Gaymin peepee
The board has gone up in price and costs $150 now
still needs cooling some kind of casing, needs cooling and a psu and bios modding (to properly alocate the RAM), draws 150W in idle, no audio port, no gpu acceleration in windows
when all is said and done you're paying $250 and maybe half a dozen hours of your time for significantly weaker PS5 that can run Linux, at that point just buy a PC.
>>
If Windows could run on this it would eat up a huge chunk of RAM. You'll be stuck on Linux with it. And you'll be stuck on Steam
>>
>>107591462
>16gb ram
its useless
>>
It's e-waste and expensive
>>
>>107593291
It's priced according to the performance it provides
>>
>>107592968
GoG and Epic just werk though
>>
>>107592914
tbf, these things are literal e-waste if not for enthusiasts getting them working on linux and hyping them up.
>>
>>107591462
isn't this meme board barely usable because driver support is crap?
>>
usecase?
>>
>>107591462
wtf, this thing has better specs than the 700$ laptop i'm on...
I am SEETHING
>>
>>107591737
-_-.... he did anon... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q_CxcbS5HI8&t=759s
>>
>>107592378
No it's shared, meaning the pool can be arbitrarily divided it's not 8/8 its x/y
>>
>>107595124
if you paid over 700 buckaroos for something marginally better than a N100 with 55x the power draw, then please consider sudoku.
