Why have you been using an image view when you could have just used mpv --pause the whole time, /g/?
>>
>>107592005
Why would I ever use mpv? It is trash.

It's only redundant if it's one of those minimalist viewers, fully featured ones like XnView MP still have legit usecases.
>>
>>107592183
Yeah. I'm compiling nitrogen again after uninstalling it to move away from gtk2 dependencies living on my computer and breaking shit. Unfortunately, all of the other wallpaper applications can't handle multiple monitors. If I set the wallpaper on my laptop, it removes the wallpaper on my desktop. hsetroot is useless, and I'm not moving to wayland. So nitrogen and mpv it is. Can't wait to figure out what I have to uninstall after nitrogen finishes compiling.

Feh with these configs.

or just nomacs
>>
>>107592183
looks like it's just gonna be gtk2-compat.
>>107592407
Nah. For the most part, I just need a simple image viewer to be able to be launched from fzf as a preview for a file or video, so I can use it to complete a pipeline. Otherwise, I can just view slideshows in mpv or use a better, graphical image viewer, which I never have the need for, in practice.
>>

that shit is a pain to use

Write a config file
>>
>>107592005
i never considered this, smart idea thanks anon. i'm going to have to re-write my config for the first time in awhile to make this viable. any tips in this regard?

I use mpv for anime, youtube, music (via jellyfin), manga, photos, and file browsing
>>
No linux equivalent of this, zooming done with mouse scroll, dont mind the shitty framerate.

--force-aliasing

Does that support mousewheel-to-browse-folder?
That's the one feature you truly need.

Also image pre-caching so you don't waste time looking at a loading indicator.
My guess is no.

this works, thanks

for me its qview
>>
>>107595649
You can rebind any input including the scroll wheel to any control or setting the player has. There's --prefetch-playlist as well but it's not really necessary as mpv renders even giant >30 megapixel images in <1 ms. Things must be dire if typical image viewers are so slow that they have loading indicators.

works just fine with wine stable
>>
>>107596304
They do. I have no idea how. Usually they use hundreds of megabytes of prefetch RAM.

I guess it's because they implement all the scaling algorithms purely in CPU. To be honest, any modern computer should still do that in under a frame CPU only, though.
>>
>>107596377

thats good but someone needs to make a native app.

Impression eyes is the fastest to launch and render from what I've tried, so I use that.
>>
>>107592556
Not at all, I was just taking the piss, as feh failed to suit my needs as a wallpaper application and made me recompile gtk2 and nitrogen. I'm using mpv out of anger to preview images.
>>107594678
It is very slow, and feh/sxiv/similar will load much faster, however loading whole directories into mpv is convenient. Using a wrapper for mpv that takes a filename as an argument and passes it to mpv --pause (and some other options), as the preview command for fzf, the wrapper also checks for the previous pidfile, removes it if it exists, and creates a new one, so that each time I press up or down in fzf, it opens a new image or video to preview. It takes a long time for mpv to open, though. The larger the image, the longer it takes.

Here's the wrapper script.

Is mpv-android obsolete, when mpvEx exists?
