I never bought a monitor before. It's less ppi than my laptop has at 15.6 and 1080p but I can't really find any 1440p monitors at the aforementioned size.

The big constraints are How Much Space Do You Have, and How Much Budget Do You Have? Within that, just get the best you can find.
Getting more pixels is a good idea. More space rules.
