I use my own melting pot desktop from years of tinkering. KDE is the defacto Linux desktop though, the problem is Linux devs are too autistic to understand certain UX concepts so KDE can get as bad as Windows at times. Better than guhnome at least.

I think KDE looks ugly, Gnome looks more coherent.

My only complaint is we lost a ton of themes moving to 6 and there is no good vetting process for the themes you see in discover

KDE plasma is linux's most polished windows like desktop, It mogs windows 10/11. It has the best desktop, file manager, best archiver, best software GUI manager with flatpaks. Ark is god tier, dolphin is god tier. Yea you have linux mint and cinnamon but even if the desktop is good nemo is way worse than dolphin even worse than windows 10 file manager.
