Just don't update your computer without reading it if you have an older card.

Nouveau should have legacy GPUs covered for the most part.

Time for a 50% fps decrease and 50% more fan noise

Fedora 43, I'm on Ampere but accidentally used nvidia-open instead of nvidia module.
I had couple of 'gpu has fallen off the bus' total freezes before I realized something was off. nvidia-open also does not allow to disable gsp firmware.
I needed to force the old nvidia proprietary module by adding some fucking flag
>sudo sh -c 'echo "%_without_kmod_nvidia_detect 1" > /etc/rpm/macros.nvidia-kmod'
Or otherwise it would always use nvidia-open instead and I could not do anything about it.
I'm honestly thinking about reinstalling iot ltsc w10/11 again.
>>
>>107615639
the amd driver works for fucking gcn1 now
this is entirely on nvidia
>>
>>107616146
It can't even support properly old laptop GPU's where the almost broken 340 series is the only option. Power management doesn't work in practice and everything is a magnitude slower.
>>
>>107615639
The issue is Nvidia and their hatred of anything open source.
>>
>Microsoft forcing people to update to Windows 11 which is making perfectly good hardware obsolete
>Nvidia refusing to compile drivers for latest Linux kernels even thought 900/1000 series GPUs can still run modern games at high-ultra settings

Consume more! You must update! Don't question it!

Why has no one leaked the source code for Nvidia drivers? Where is the hero we need? Why is nothing ever leaked anymore? Not that it matters. These modern faggots "developing" Linux would refuse to look at the source code for fear of getting black bagged. So much for freedom and people fighting for it eh?
>>
Well shit, now I have to figure out how to get optimus to work again since now it seems broken
>>
>>107615667
Not Arch's fault. This is entirely on nvidia being kikes.
>>
>>107617130
You can only use open drivers on the 5000 series, are you seriously getting filtered by the drivers when it's a simple command?
>>
>>107617204
Not him, works fine on my old notebook. Unlike about 10 years ago.
>>
>>107617555
>you can only use open drivers on 5000 series
You are the one who is "filtered" here.
>>
>>107617349
You made a deal with the devil using Nvidia hardware for Linux when you had other options, don't complain when the devil decides to rape you.
And even if the driver was leaked, it wouldn't take much for it to be outdated and most people do not have the expertise to maintain that, and most people that do care about their career prospects and reputation to not work on what would be essentially stolen code.
>>
do we still need vk hdr layer
>>
>>107617844
Oh not my career and reputation in the tech industry! God forbid I look at some STOLEN CODE.

If only there was a way to contribute to project anonymously.
>Muh Nvidia is evil
Kind of like how AMD drivers were shit for decades and everyone said you were making a deal with the devil if you bought that hardware?
>>
what does this mean for the fags that use the proprietary drivers and disable GSP firmware?
