Mobile-first web design is here. Why you havent installed a tiling window manager yet to use the extra vertical screen space?
>>107631967It just scales down and the ratio of empty to filled space remains the same
>>107631985Scren space is mainly filled
>>107631967>Mobile-first web design is hereyour wide screen computer monitor is for media consumption, not reading text.the "empty" space left and right of the content is to keep your main content (text), at about 80 characters long.
>>107632024wrong
>>107631967Because I can tile windows with a floating window manager
>>107632053Too ineffective. You need to adjust by mouse
>>107632075How do tiling window managers do it then? Is it a static in which case it won’t work for all site sizes or is it resizeable in which case you also have to adjust it by hand?
>>107631967>is hereIt's been like this for almost a decade, but it's nice that it caught your attention
>>107632100I use sway (wayland). Windows key+b splits horizontally, windows key+arrow goes to nearby window, windows key+number goes to the numbered worldpace etc.
>>107632127numbered workspace*
>>107632100Also with windowskey+r window goes on resize mode and can be resized with arrows etc
>>107632075Not really, since I only ever tile 2 per desktop
>>107631967>mobile-first web design>posts a 2-column websiteWhat >>107632025 said is correct, many websites will limit text paragraphs width to make reading easier. Wider sentences run the risk of losing your vertical position more than shorter ones.Even 4chan does it.
>>107632249Yes, really long lines are annoying. But most mobile first sites that have 2 or 3 columns have one column that is the content, the other ones (usually left and right) are fillers that arent really used by users.
>>107631967I have a second monitor. Monitors are cheap now.
>>107631967retard things are better when they are centered because you don't have to look across the whole screen
>>107631967op be like
>>107632502In the 4chan example, most of my time on site is used reading posts, nit browsing catalogue
Web browsers need tiling windows inside the browser. When is this happening?
