is debian beginner friendly?
It's not user friendly at all, it's like a snobbish hipster bartender or barista who rolls his eyes and sighs gayly everytime you ask him to do his job. It's total shit. >muh Ubuntu is debian basedand much better, Canonical has done infinitely more for desktop linux than gaybian. all the shit people who say debian is great are just hipsters and liars. it goes out of its way to suck. Go ahead, install debian and the first thing you do, 'sudo apt install whatever' guess what, you don't have sudoyou don't have nvidia drivers. you don't have codecs to play video and audio files. all because it's gatekept by communist freefags they finally bent the knee and put in wifi drivers, but 5 years ago you were SOL unless you plugged your laptop into an ethernet cable. why? oh, because "muh wifi drivers are bad because white people are bad"
It's fine for beginners.
>>107638177Debian was my first distro like 10 years ago when it was much less user friendly lol. I think it is much more user friendly now. Anyone who says otherwise is trying to bait you into using some obscure slop.
>>107638177it doesn't hold your hand like ubuntu or mint simply because its more minimal.I've just setup Debian KDE on my HTPC. I think simpler tasks like this or running headless as a server are mainly where it shines.I run Fedora on my gaming laptop for better package support.
>>107638177It's probably one of the best options if you are running something not cutting edge new and just want everything to just work and stay stable. Not 100% beginner friendly but I also wouldn't have any problem suggesting it to a beginner.
>>107638177Just install LMDE 7 gigi. Its the latest debian but even more noobfriendly.
>>107638177And even if not, beginners could just use LMDE instead, which is easy mode Debian
>>107638245wtf i didn't know debian was this based i love debian now
>>107638177It's great for setting up a server without issues. It's easy to use if you know what you're doing and need something low effort that just werks. If you want more effort, install gentoo.
>>107638245Most of the top devs for ubuntu are devs for debian as well.
>>107638245>you don't have codecs to play video and audio filesYouTube works out of the box, unlike on Fedora
>>107638177No you would want to use the followingKubuntuMintZorinCosmicBazzite if you only care about gamesIf you're moderately compentent with computers you could also use fedora KDE or move to it later.I used to recommend tumbleweed but that distro went to shit.
>>107638177it's not designed to be noob friendly, but it's not super complicated either. You'll probably be fine
>>107638376>Host: KVM/QEMU>"Please install, it's good!"
>>107639322Even weirder, it's running on a steam deck for some reason
>>107638245works on my machine
>>107638177Yes, you can just do a default install with the pre-selections in tasksel which will give you a nicely complete GNOME system, and first boot will walk you through the GNOME tutorial. It's THE UNIVERSAL OPERATING SYSTEM.
