is debian beginner friendly?
>>
It's not user friendly at all, it's like a snobbish hipster bartender or barista who rolls his eyes and sighs gayly everytime you ask him to do his job. It's total shit.
>muh Ubuntu is debian based
and much better, Canonical has done infinitely more for desktop linux than gaybian.
all the shit people who say debian is great are just hipsters and liars.
it goes out of its way to suck. Go ahead, install debian and the first thing you do, 'sudo apt install whatever' guess what, you don't have sudo
you don't have nvidia drivers. you don't have codecs to play video and audio files. all because it's gatekept by communist freefags
they finally bent the knee and put in wifi drivers, but 5 years ago you were SOL unless you plugged your laptop into an ethernet cable. why? oh, because "muh wifi drivers are bad because white people are bad"
>>
It's fine for beginners.

Debian was my first distro like 10 years ago when it was much less user friendly lol.
I think it is much more user friendly now. Anyone who says otherwise is trying to bait you into using some obscure slop.

it doesn't hold your hand like ubuntu or mint simply because its more minimal.
I've just setup Debian KDE on my HTPC. I think simpler tasks like this or running headless as a server are mainly where it shines.
I run Fedora on my gaming laptop for better package support.

It's probably one of the best options if you are running something not cutting edge new and just want everything to just work and stay stable. Not 100% beginner friendly but I also wouldn't have any problem suggesting it to a beginner.

Just install LMDE 7 gigi. Its the latest debian but even more noobfriendly.
>>
>>107638177
And even if not, beginners could just use LMDE instead, which is easy mode Debian
>>
>>107638245
wtf i didn't know debian was this based i love debian now
>>
>>107638177
It's great for setting up a server without issues. It's easy to use if you know what you're doing and need something low effort that just werks.
If you want more effort, install gentoo.
>>
>>107638245
Most of the top devs for ubuntu are devs for debian as well.
>>
>>107638245
>you don't have codecs to play video and audio files
YouTube works out of the box, unlike on Fedora
>>
>>107638177
No you would want to use the following
Kubuntu
Mint
Zorin
Cosmic
Bazzite if you only care about games
If you're moderately compentent with computers you could also use fedora KDE or move to it later.
I used to recommend tumbleweed but that distro went to shit.
>>
>>107638177
it's not designed to be noob friendly, but it's not super complicated either. You'll probably be fine
>>
>>107638376
>Host: KVM/QEMU
>"Please install, it's good!"
>>
>>107639322
Even weirder, it's running on a steam deck for some reason
>>
>>107638245
works on my machine
>>
>>107638177
Yes, you can just do a default install with the pre-selections in tasksel which will give you a nicely complete GNOME system, and first boot will walk you through the GNOME tutorial. It's THE UNIVERSAL OPERATING SYSTEM.

no, i keep saying this, but debian is not as retard-proof as fedora, it doesn't try to be your babysitter but it also doesn't shy away from giving you all the power, acquire at least a year of experience in linux before venturing into debian.

also, if you are aligned with the distribution's proposal, you will have the best linux experience; otherwise, stay away, because you will have the worst possible experience.

If you can read this and understand what it means then you're good. In particular if you can understand what a Frankendebian is, and know how to avoid creating one then you're ready.
>>107638245
Pretty sure modern Debian's installer will automatically give you sudo if you don't create a root account just like other distros do.
>>
>>107638177
Honestly? Probably not.
There's a thing in tech where we say something is easy because we think it makes us look smarter.
>>
>>107638177
By beginner, do you mean someone already tech savvy but new to Linux, or generally tech illiterate?
