they are the disease of low effort posting that is continuously ruining the internetnot having access to a keyboard or monitor means they juts consoom and leave one word replies like ">Cool" and you can always sniff them out by their capitalized sentencesuser agent is a good start but can be easily faked, was wondering if there are better solutions
CSS media query that detects resolutions that are phone sized, then you just hide the body.No scripts, and can be plugged into any website
it's fundamentally impossible (against a dedicated person, of course; it's trivial to filter out the lay men)
>>107639118i suppose that could work until a dedicated user overrides your css like >>107639139 mentionsalso detection via scripts can be futile if the user just blocks those scripts. but at least it's a bit more difficult to that kind of stuff on mobile
>>107639118this hinders the PC users' experience because now they can't resize the window however they see fit>>107639149you can run desktop firefox and desktop chromium via Termux
>>107639086You could try doing what Fandom unintentionally ended up doing, make the website absolutely horrendous to browse using a smartphone thanks to obnoxious ads. Sure, a small percentage of "power" users might pass through the filter thanks to Firefox+uBO and other DNS adblocking solutions... but you seldom see phonefags smart enough to even have the basics when it comes to internet street smarts.
>>107639118try again :3
timed iq teststhose nugget brains doom scrollers could never
I think "proof of cpu performance" could work, similar to a PoW scheme but with a time limit. this would utilize the fact that mobile devices are generally slower than PCs. you could use something like bcrypt to implement the challenges, as that supports a "cost" parameter. Make it so that the challenge is viable for a PC to solve in under 1 second.of course this comes with its own drawbacks, mostly the filtering out of low end PC users or users with high network latency.
>>107639086literally easier to post here on kuroba ex beta than the broken 4chan xt and trannyzilla tho
>>107639271you're missing my point. it's not about how easy it is to post from a platform, it's about how much effort people put into their posts.mobile posters with their shitty touchscreen keyboards and tiny screens rarely write more than a short snarky sentence, it takes way too much effort on their device to contribute anything of value because they use an "app", it is created for consumption rather than creation, so the quality of discourse goes down the drain the more mobileposters you get
>>107639251and attention span tests
>>107639320I PUT MORE EFFORT INTO MY MOBILEPOSTS
>>107639347appreciated. typing all that shit out on a mobile device must be painful. even worse when you need to cross reference or copy/paste stuff across different browser tabs and files and shit, would make me give up on a phone
>>107639320employ an LLM on the server side to reject low effort posts
>>107639412Doesn't Lainchan already do this? Well, without AI though. I've tried to make relatively low-effort posts there before and it rejected them, can't remember why but it thought I was a bot or something.
>>107639412crazy idea that might just work, but sounds cost prohibitiveif it costs nothing for a spammer to submit a post and just a few cents for you to vet it, you lose in the end

>>107639086You simply don't have a mobile version of the site. Force it to be 1920px wide at all times. If phone shitters want to use it they have to scroll back and forth constantly and it'll be annoying enough they'll go elsewhere.Especially if it was for something like a captcha where the picture is at the left edge of the screen and the text entry box is at the right edge.oh! I just remembered something you could do. On Harley-Davidson's parts website, it works fine with a PC using scroll wheel or keyboard arrow keys, but if you try using it on a phone and scrolling using a touchscreen the website constantly jumps around and doesn't do what you want and is pure frustration.
>>107639086Make the site run like shit. Reddit for example does this but because they want users to install their spyware app.Ban all mobile network IPs. If you even visit the site using a mobile network, you get a ban cookie which breaks postingShadowban them, they won't notice that nobody else s seeing their postsBan all portrait displaysBan all mobile os user agentsMake the website only look good and usable on desktops, do not offer a mobile friendly layout, force them to zoom in a lot every time they open a new page
>>107639532>Reddit for example does this but because they want users to install their spyware app.i'm surprised they still haven't shut down old reddit, it's great on desktop but also perfectly usable on a phone browser and a better experience than their shitty spyware app

I’m chaotic neutral And tethering my computer to my phone is great too
The main feature which ruined 4chan was the built in catalog. It made the site searchable while hiding the newest posts in a thread. It also made the site much more boring to browse. As a result 4chan turned into a generic forum with permanent generals and less motivation for people to leave "their" threads. Some newfags even complain when there is more than one thread about a topic. It's pure cancer.
>>107639149If they can override a CSS they're smarter than 90% of this jeet infested 4cheddit site
>>107639550>Portrait monitors are great, though. I’m chaotic neutralsame. i find that two or more monitors side by side in landscape just make me feel like i'm in some kind of space ship where i need to turn my head constantly
You can't outside of range banning
>>107639086Design a captcha that requires inputs that are very difficult for mobile users to perform..
>>107639086Proof of work algorithm that requires 16GB of ram to compute.
>>107639579Also generals attract dull people who prefer repetition to novelty. Sch people are far less creative than people who seek new things.
>>107639579interesting. i take the catalog for granted these days and was kind of interested when it was added cause i couldn't remember the exact yearand it lead me down to this page i didn't know existed:https://www.4chan.org/4channews.php?allwhich seems barely maintained but has lots of old posts by moot and implies it was 2013>>107639698damn that's a good one
>>107639711There is an older external catalog as well which is much older, but since most people didn't use it it didn't change posting habits. Also there is this: https://wiki.bibanon.org/4chan/History
>>107639086>how would you block all mobilefags from a website?make your website into a windows app with a proprietary protocol to communicate with the server, and then only distribute it as an .exeany other webshit-based solution can easily be bypassed with minimal effort
>>107639086I feel like whenever you want to filter out the low-effort rabble you don't need to focus on crazy technical solutions to plug every loophole. If these people are adverse to effort anyway, even hurdles that can be bypassed will filter out large numbers of them.
