It's gonna get worse.Microsoft replaces all Windows code (it might be named Windows 12 by then) with Rust.Windows was written with C/C++. They want to replace those lines with Rust.https://www.thurrott.com/dev/330980/microsoft-to-replace-all-c-c-code-with-rust-by-2030Microsoft plans to eliminate all C and C++ code across its major codebases by 2030, replacing it with Rust >using AI-assisted, large-scale refactoring. "Goal is to eliminate every line of C and C++ from Microsoft by 2030," Microsoft writes in a post on LinkedIn. "Our strategy is to combine AI and Algorithms to rewrite Microsoft's largest codebases. Our North Star is '1 engineer, 1 month, 1 million lines of code.' To accomplish this previously unimaginable task, we've built a powerful code processing infrastructure. Our algorithmic infrastructure creates a scalable graph over source code at scale. Our AI processing infrastructure then enables us to apply AI agents, guided by algorithms, to make code modifications at scale. The core of this infrastructure is already operating at scale on problems such as code understanding."They are looking to hire a Principal Software Engineer (PSE's) to help with this effort. "The purpose of this Principal Software Engineer role is to help us evolve and augment our infrastructure to enable translating Microsoft's largest C and C++ systems to Rust," company wrote. "A critical requirement for this role is experience building production quality systems-level code in Rust -- preferably at least 3 years of experience writing systems-level code in Rust. Compiler, database, or OS implementation experience is highly desired. While compiler implementation experience is not required to apply, the willingness to acquire that experience in our team is required."
>>107641134Why are people rewriting every codebase in Rust again?

I fail to see the problem.Windows is closing out this year at less than 70% desktop market share, the lowest on record. The worse Microsoft makes their OS, the more people are going to jump ship.
>>107641134I am still rocking the same old WIndows 10, last updated in in 2019 as i have always done for the past 6 years. i am even making a whole blog on https://desuarchive.org/_/search/boards/g.desu.meta/text/last%20updated%20in%202019/ about it, given that as far back as 2022 i knew that this may be the last OS i will ever had with the last updates and so on. The whole idea of Microsoft to kill/replace Windows with AI Windows or whatever is all good as it makes the cattle suffer. we already have the last needed version of windows and it will be 7 years old in a few dayWe already have Agartha.
>>107641677now that i go to some of my older posts like https://desuarchive.org/g/thread/103045683/#q103050262 i see that i was much happier back then. all i did was share the idea of "last updated in 2019" like i do now, but even 2 years ago i was a much happier man. This whole " i last updated windows 10, 7 years ago" story is starting to be like a biography of my life. its like reading old Facebook posts from 10 years ago.

>>107641724>>107641677Niggas do not update their OS and make it their identity. Lol.
>>107641827Its good because i can ignore it by not updating.>>107641819Anti-niggas update their OS and have no time for bitches as they have to deal with Updood consequences.

>>107641827I’m sure they all agree that they will need to use a Rust-based editor, otherwise the Rust code will be “impure”
>>107641949It's like some kind of karma for all the terrible tech support phone calls.
Rewriting windows in Rust is a rare Rust W because Windows cannot get any shittier at this point so Rust rewrite might not improve it, but it won't be shittier.
