>Use KDE gayland, everything is slow, low fps, input lag, weird frame pacing that doesnt feel smooth even with a smooth frametime graph in games

>Use X11 with Xmonad Tiling window manager, It just werks, everything werks, no latency or input lag
>High FPS, gaming just werks and I get 20fps+ more than gayland for some reason and its buttery smooth
>Fast with zero bloat, Configure everything to my liking

At this point, I wont even use any desktop environment on linux if it isn't X11. Even XFCE is dead to me because it has wayland support. I will never support anything wayland based on linux.
I'm X11 pilled.

14th gen i9 + 4080 laptop here
Should I do it ?
>>
>>107643529
Why does my computer get like 20 less fps and seem worse on wayland then?

This is a big problem. I have an AMD PC with a 5600X+6700XT.
>>
>>107643518
Now try without compositor.
>>
>>107643539
It's a known fact, that wayland is having performance issues with games but it is not severe.
Work arounds like running dedicated gfx server just for steam or whatever are also an option though.

But what you're describing in your post is clearly not how Wayland+ kde behaves.
In fact, wayland+kde is even more fluid than x + compositor.

source: i switched from X to wayland kde on debian.
>>
>>107643564
Its broken by design because wayland still uses X11 even as its own display protocol it has to rely on xwayland bridge.

It is an embarrassment to the linux desktop, for what? HDR? People who cant buy the same model monitor?
>>
>>107643599
It uses X11 protocol for legacy applications only, it has nothing to do with X11 implementation itself.
There is no X11 code in wayland.
>>
>Use KDE + Wayland
>Turn on HDR
>It works
>>
>>107643704
Xwayland is an Xserver. It has to rely on this for everything LMAO.

Wayland is a functionally broken and unfinished display protocol

>It has to rely on this for everything LMAO.
No, it has to rely on that for legacy software.
(Notice how there are no X11 Unmanaged Windows or X11 Windows in KWin's Debug Console. Why is that? Is it perhaps because I am not running any legacy software?)

Its funny how wayland troons always try to deflect and say wayland is the future while ignoring everyone elses usecase, as if everyone is going to switch to guhnome or kde plasma.
They are trying to force everyone into a bloated mess that is dubious compared to xorg.
>>
>>107643824
Issue closed. Usecase unclear. You don't need that.

wayland bros i dont feel so good
>>
>>107643824
No one cares about HDR, it's just excuse to shill Wayland like muh security before. I have HDR and dont use it. I want to see how others see the screen, not enhance it in any way.
>>
>>107643827
It's not as if Xorg is free from being a bloated mess either though. It's hundreds and thousands of lines of code that regularly gets security vulnerabilities found in it and is in fact more bloated than Wayland because of its monolithic nature.

Wayland detractors want to apply one yardstick to measure against whilst conveniently using a different metric to measure their own back yard.

>>107643838
Every other operating system cares. Just because YOU think Linux should be inferior does not mean "no one cares".

>Wayland solves no issues I have
EVERY SINGLE "Wayland is the anti-christ" article. Okay, keep using X11 then. Wayland solves real problems for other people though.
>>
>>107643396
>Use X11 with Xmonad Tiling window manager

Every time you run sudo pacman -Syu it breaks the entire computer.

Then you should be using HDR with the metadata passed through to your display that guarantee's you are seeing what others are seeing
>>
>>107643859
Name one. No, "HDR" isn't one. It's just the new "3D" gimmic.

I don't know. Both use the same libinput stack. Did you benchmark and profile the latency and is it smaller than your penis?
>>
>>107644044
It's more like saying curved displays are a gimmic.
Do you really believe that HDR will somehow make you see more colors? If you do, please have your head examined.

Do you know what HDR is?
By the very definition it is a higher dynamic range than standard definition. You sound exactly like the people that thought we should have never moved on from black and white / monochrome TVs because it was better because…uhm…reasons.
